A tale of two festers
Scott
Cloverdale, BC
1993 Ford Festiva L
The Beginning.
Way back in high school I bought a car. Not just any car. It was a 93 L with no more than 74 000 kms on the odo. 5 spd. Mint. It had the original purple to pink stripe on the side and everything. Well I took the stripe off and brought it to school. Now it brought some taunts and teases but after some time and some severe whoopage of other peoples cars in races...it was accepted.
Well the years went by and the mileage crept up but it was still a reliable car and had much character and I wouldn't of traded it for the world.
The End
Then the unthinkable happened. I had moved away from home to the Vancouver area from up north...I had no job...no place to live...nothing.
I was coming back from a interview minding my own with my now wife when I saw something. Out of the corner of my eye...a red Saturn...and it was headed straight for me. Well I was T-boned and the car was written off.
It was a sad day...and due to the lack of house or home...i couldn't even salvage him.
Well my parents sold me their 92 Celica GTS for cheap and i drove that for a while..sold it bought a 83 Toyota truck...sold it too. I needed something else. I needed to get back to my roots.
New Life
Well I started looking...and the first car I found was a 93 L. I almost fell over. It was IDENTICAL to my last one....the only thing different was tinted windows...but hey I wanted tinted windows. Well I check it out and it was scary...it drove the same, it smelled the same...it was the twin brother. I even checked to see if someone rebuilt my old one and this was not the case. The scary thing was that the mileage was exactly how it would have been had my old one not been totaled. I bought it right there. It was about as good as it gets my friends.
The modifications include:
Sporty Muffler
CAI
Various Stereo Upgrades
For the future!
13 inch race wheels and tires
FMS Springs
KYB's All Around
Some structural reinforcement
B6 swap
Better seats
May I present....Fester II
Hope you enjoyed!

1990 Ford Festiva L-Plus
1. The car was bright yellow when purchased and not that many were around in 1990; it attracted a lot of second looks. I installed Pontiac Firebird decals on the sides and called it "Big Bird"; a combination of Sesame Street and Firebird.
2. Located in San Marcos, Texas
3. 1990 Ford Festiva L-Plus
4. I drove the car off the lot in December, 1990.
5. Purchased from the Ford Dealership in Commerce, Texas (about 75 miles east of Dallas). I've been the sole owner since that time.
6. Except for custon paint, wheels, and tires, there are no modifications and none planned. Except for the minor iginiton problem, the car runs fine. I've always done my own maintenance to be sure that it's done correctly. All upgraded parts have between 5 and 10k miles on them:
a. Rebuilt engine
b. Shocks/struts all 4 corners.
c. Brakes
d. Clutch assembly
e. Custom Paint
f. Tires have less than 500 miles on them.
g. New muffler has less than 50 miles on it.
h. Passenger side mirror.
i. All side and rear windows tinted with visor strip on w/shield.
Never wrecked, no rust, no bondo.
1990 L-Plus, 5-spd, Flamed Festiva.
