My name: Jim
Car's name: Milhouse
1992 GL Sport
Owned: about a year?
Mileage....not entirely sure. 150,000-ish, I should check.
I've wanted a Festiva ever since I helped swap a 1.6 into a friend's car about 4 or 5 years ago. I had several opportunities over the years, but life and other car projects got in the way.
I finally found my little monster last January (or so). I bought it because the body was good, and the engine was pooched. Piston number 1 was missing a chunk. It made for an entertaining drive back to the garage.
The car had the white alloy wheels, body coloured bumpers, and the red pinstripe interior. Neat. It still has the red pinstriped interior. I'm pretty much trying to make it look like an 88-89 base model, with a spoiler. I like sleepers.
The donor car came along a short while later. It was a very nice 87 323, with a full load of goodies. Several hours later it was a shell, with little white Festiva alloys stuck on it.
Here's what I've done over the past year...
1.6 SOHC swap. Gasketed and sealed. No leaks! Did the clutch at the same time
Opened up the intake path a little
Stock exhaust pipe, with gutted cat, backed up with a Magnaflow 2.25: in and out oval glasspack
KYB GR2 struts all around
323 alloys, with Falken 512 ZIEX tires
Round headlight conversion
88-89 Grille
88-89 smooth tail lights
Restored and fitted black bumpers
Hood gas strut modification
Passenger side mirror
Dome light mod
Tach gauge cluster
Relocated/replaced third brake light with one from an Astro van. (40 LEDs!) Mounted on underside of spoiler.
Fabbed new parcel shelf, since I didn't need the cutout for the brake light anymore.
Center console from an auto with the manual boot grafted on, and cupholders added
There's probably more, but I can't seem to recall it all right now. Enjoy the pics!
