i found my (wifes) 1989 festiva LX on craigslist.com using craigshelper.com. it was in Columbus Ohio, and the guy had no way of sending me pics, although i was still interested for the price he was asking. after a few days of trading e-mails we talked and he was able to text me some shots from his cell phone, and i couldn't wait to go pick it up. he worked everyday but sunday so i had to wait till sunday to go get it. he agreed to drive it one hour towards me to shorten my trip. (it made me a little more comfortable that he was willing to drive it an hour away from home, he must have felt it was road worthy)
after church a buddy and i took off in the Cubstiva to meet in Wal-mart parking lot. i drove it for maybe 3 mins, i knew i wanted it. after the deal my buddy said "you didn't even try to talk him down" and i said "i just wanted him to leave, he had no idea what he had!" i'm sure we were both thinking "Sucker".
Once we got it home, the wife and drove it as is for a few weeks but i had bigger plans, like repairing the dents and rust and a paint job. my wifes had her heart set on a Mini Cooper type paint scheme, i fought it for a while but gave in. (happy wife, happy life)
it took about 20 days to get it all done, with all the wok that needed done and with work and kids i had to fit time in that i could work on it. my dad handled the welding and i did everything else except the clear.
we're really happy with the way its turned out and have future plans to swap bumpers with "FestYboy" @ Ohiotiva and then paint the GL bumpers to match. i also saved enough charcoal paint to cover a spoiler if and when i ever find one and can afford it. i'm looking for 'cooler' rims or atleast some 13 inch chrome trim rings.

sorry if this is too many pics, i've tried to document the whole process since we've had her, she is yet to be named, we've been calling her the "kimtiva LX" or the the "minitiva" (the red L that we sold was the original "kimtiva" named for my lovely bride.

    And Ford_For_Life's entry:

We had been looking for Festivas locally and on Craigslist for a while, and had no luck, then I pointed this one out to my dad a few times. It had been for sale on Craigslist for a few months already so we weren't sure if it was still for sale now, but it was. So we called the guy and met with him, took the car for a test drive then bought it. We drove it home the same day (175ish mile drive) and it ran great. I haven't done too much to the car, just cleaned it up some and added a few things to it.

Here it is the day we bought it:

And here it is a few months later..

    So far I have:
-Popped out some dents from the P.O. hitting deer
    -Replaced the broke corner light
-Replaced the broken drivers side mirror (Thanks Levitan!! )
-Replaced the grill with a new one
    -Installed map pockets
-Painted the bumpers and side moldings black
    -Painted the wheels black
    -Installed 12" trim rings
-Touched up some of the rust spots

Well, thats my entry.. I know it's not much to look at but it gets the job done

I love the paint job on Cubstiva's car, but I also love what has been done to Ford_For_Life's car, too. It definitely has a lot of potential. I don't know which way to go yet.

I've gone with Cubstiva. I liked his work with the Cubstiva, and i like this just as well. Not to demean FFL, I also enjoy his 'stiva. I figured I'd just add my two cents in for this month. Good luck to each of you. You each have done wonderful work, keep it up, I hope to see more in the coming months ahead from each and all FF members.
