    Hi all,

Having moved to Canada from the land down under (Australia) I was in need of a cheap mode of transports so I could get around & see the country side. Initially I actually purchased a 1987 Honda Civic as i'd owned one before. I'll keep that story short.. I spent $500 on it which I thought was a bargain even though the car was VERY rough! I soon gave up on that car and sold it on the cheap.

Like many here, I started checking Craigslist every day for Festiva postings, but they were few & far between, so much so I was almost ready to pick up the yellow one listed in Powell River (4-5 hours and 2 ferries from where I am)

A few weeks later before work I did my routine Criagslist search & much to my suprise a new posting was listed just minutes earlier. That evening after work I headed straight to New West to check out the car. Although I hadn't put cash aside for the car or really planned to ACTUALLY take a car home that day, once I saw the potential of this little car, I just HAD to buy it, and at a pretty good price too, I think.

Everyone, say hello to my lil' friend!

    1991 Ford Festiva L
    5 Speed Manual
    189,xxxkms

The day I picked it up

My two cars meeting each other.. (sniffing bottoms)

After giving her a look over, I gave her some new oil, new air filter, flushed out the radiator & adjusted the clutch

Now that she was feeling a little better, I thought it was time to give her a good clean & get her Looking better too.

After I sprayed the bay with Wheel cleaner, then hand washed with soapy water

Gave her a good shampoo, Vacuum & Armourall

In an attempt to earn browny points from my girlfriend I let her choose a colour for the wheels

Soon after I changed my mind & chose my own colour scheme, mismatched FTW!

I haven't got to drive my lil friend enough since I bought it due to a few things that need attention, but I'm willing to take my time & give her the attention she deserves.

Future Plans? Who knows.. I had planned to keep her pretty stock, but with all the engine swaps going on here, its hard to not get ideas!

    See you all soon!

I put a little work in it new starter and battery and called up eurotiva and told him i was ready to ride out! I had only drove the car for about 300 miles with the motor in it without any problems, but whats the worst that can happen... I loaded my tool box and asked my dad if he was willing to take part in the epic adventure 600 miles north in a car i had only put half of that mileage on and he accepted.. So the next friday morning we left.. Convoyed with 7 other cars to fm3 and the car performed beautifully. Brought the car home from n.c. and took it to the track the next Wednesday and the car did a 13.9 at 103 stock wheels, suspension, boost, etc. I soon got the car to the dyno and it put down 174hp to wheels...
The car before paint or anything

The morning i left for madness fm3

    new wheels

    Before fm4

I have since put on a boost controller and rewelded some mounts to help stiffen up the engine and tranny for the hard hits from the track.. I have put down many more passes in the car but haven't been able to get it to hook up the way i would like. Still wanting to throw on some slicks but now the car it waiting for a clutch to hold the extra power from the extra boost from the controller.. I have also put all new fms springs with KYB gr2's. I will get this car back into the top 10 fastest festiva's.

I daily drive my car, when it isn't giving me issues that is. Im always out boosting around town and loving it. Have been to festiva madness the last 2yrs in a row and will be there again this year. Its always a blast. I plan on having this car for a long time and the modifications will just keep coming im sure. It has been a long hard battle with this car to keep it on the road. Mostly not the cars fault, but faulty parts. Has a new turbo, new head, another battery, 2 alternators. distributor, and im sure many other things i have had to replace. Usually seems to be a $200 parts that always goes out. But what can you expect I drive it about 500 miles a week..
Last but not least holding it down for ff.com

It ended up on my father in laws yard once again and sat for a year and a half. Recently he had made me an offer. Money grew tight and to make a long story short we had moved in with my wifes parents again. I was driving a 1998 Chevy Blazer from Ickesburg to York everyday for work. For people unfirmiliar with Pennsylvania, thats about 120 miles a day and in the Blazer, a quarter tank of gas a day. He new somebody that only ever stayed local and was in desperate need of a vehicle so the deal was that I gave them my blazer and he'd give me the festiva. I was scepticle at first but the gas efficiency has proved to be great.

It took a little time to get used to the manual steering but I have fell in love with this festiva and now im working on making it my own. Before it could be mine the head gaskets, head bolts, intake gasket, valve cover gaskets, actually every gasket on the motor needed to be replaced. This was done and it was legal and driveable. Every time I got in it more ideas kept crossing my head so I joined FordFestiva.com to learn more. Now, with the help and ideas from all of you, my Festiva projects has begun.

It has been a long coming but I had hit a huge speed bump with her. I did a valve cover gasket and cam seal gasket about 2.5 months ago and she hasnt ran yet. Festyboy and I covered almost everything. Now that shes time she cranks good and wants to start. sometimes monstiva will start but shut off with much agility. fuel pumps are coming from Hofficergrover. and hopefully this will get her running.

I really cant express my love for this car in words so here is some pics of what i have done and the LITTLE progress made since February.

R.J. skimsucka told me about his festiva(R.I.P. Black 88LX). After riding in his I decided why not try it… so we immediately proceded to look for my future car…..searching craigslist I found my future festy red 91 L With no rust. But a bad tranny for $275(same as 1 insurance payment for my clipse) seemed like a good price to me…it was 3 hrs away… but that didn’t matter the only problem was getting a dolly to get it back home…. Finally I dropped the dough to rent one from uhaul and the next weekend I found myself and R.J.’s Brother riding in my friends, dads tundra across state to pick up my future festy. When we got to Inverness fl… the car was on a full trailor. The guy said he got the car from the original owners widow… he had passed away and she just signed the title over to him. Walking around the car it seemed in good visual shape.. and we asked him if he would start it up… he then got the keys and popped the hood and of course to my surprise he turned it over and then engine came to life… with a nice quiet purr.
And with a smile I handed over $280 dollars and he handed me the title. I actually was able to drive the car up the street… but the throwout bearing was bad… and the tranny made a crazy grinding noise and 4th gear was nonexistent….

3 hrs later I was unloading it in my driveway…. And immediately started washing and clearing the inside of debris.. then began the search for a tranny…. But that didn’t last long as r.j. knew there were 2 festy’s at a local jy… took me a while with my limited tools to pull said tranny …but soon thereafter I was putting the tranny in……the front crossmember nut heads spun so I did the through bolt mod. And soon I had a running driving festy….

        JY Tranny

        The front seats were torn…

Found a replacement for those from a 2009 Hyundai Tiburon 
Custom seat brackets and this is the turnout

Car didn’t have a radio so for $200

        20%tint

30k HID kit ….aimed them low and right so im not blindin everybody….

After rolling steelies for a month I bought alloys off rj for 100 then I kept getting bubbles in tires…. So I found these…

In tampa and on the trip to rescue r.j.’s $75 dollar festy we snatched em up… dual pattern 13”
i had a sloppy shifter... so we took that all apart and found some bronzeoil bushing at homedepot that needed slight cutting and reaming to fit while we had it apart we cut underneath the pivot ball of the shifterand welded to lengthen under that to basically make a STS .. cant seem to find those pictures
I also bought an untested dealer a/c system off of sandm49 cleaned all the parts installed it with all new seals and charged it and click the compressor came on and the air blew cold 
Ive replaced all the bearings. Both axles the front brakes brake booster. Crank seal.
Belt, plugs, wires. Cleaned the rotor. Added a tach cluster that was only off by 3k .
        CAI style air filter
And done tons of oil changes and cleared the cooling system.
        Also added these

Removed the back seat and added 2 kicker comp 12’s for a little boom boom…
Ive now added a sticker to kinda give it personality… since im currently awaiting my ship date to leave for basic training for the AirForce

As she sits now...nice and lowwww

        Tint looks nice and dark

        Glamour shot

eventually funds willng i plan a B6t swap with 14" rims and up the boost a little

Here is my white '91 GL auto. I have driven a festiva for a long time. The teachers at my sons school use to call it a clown car because when they thought no more kids where getting out of it three more kids would . but still i didnt really fall in love with these little cars until i went to my first meet in ohio . after that i was hooked . We bought her in 2009 with a blown engine and in desperate need of TLC. She was in the sticks , near the N.C & Tenn. border with no cell phone service, no gps , and no road signs .But when i saw her I had to have her .Body was in good shape , interior was in bad need of lovinging and cleaning ..
We started by putting a used engine in it ,and cleaning and trying to get it fine tuned . after that we put a new muffler on it . Then we did an aspire swap and put ford escort rims on it .Then a spoiler and changed out the front turner signal covers with clear ones and the we put smothie brake lights on it and power mirrors . I have a push start button installed and Thanks to bebandit, I rewired my tack light so that no it is neon blue straight light .
I started with painting trim pieces and then I customized my door panels by tracing out my design and then stitching it . then I added seat covers. .I 'am in the process of rebuilding a b6 engine to be put in soon . Also drawing up designs for the paint . I have side skirts but havent been able to put them on yet .... We just finished making the cover plate for the back of the car . and Iam in so its the process of customizing my center console
The funniest time i remember is when , and my hubby meet after work to go see a movie both of our cars looked just alike. But his has a turbo engine and is really fast I had a ediot riding my bumper and bright lighting me ,He refused to go around me or back off. So will had me come around him and head home , The guy started riding his bumper and bright lighting him ,when i was far enough away will gunned it and left the Honda sitting . I loved it ....I love it when someone pulls up and starts laughing and then when the light turns green and we leave them at the light they won't pull up next to us again. I guess they had second thoughts of laughing at our little cars.

          escort rims going on it.
          new blue light just installed
