The story of cream puff goes back many years. My love affair with festivas started in 91. I've had 25 now. In January of 2011 I got a call that a sister of a friend was ready to let her 90 LX go. I had helped this lady out with her festiva 2 different times over the years. She knew I was a specialist. I got a call to repair her faulty fuel gauge. At that time I tightened up her floppy, one year only, swoopy power mirrors. Maybe a year later I got a call to replace her fuel pump. Each time I repaired her festy I reminded her that I would like to be in line to buy should she ever sell. The first time she told me I was 3rd in line. She said her daughter wanted it and that her son in law wanted to motor swap it. The second time I worked on it she said just her son-in-law was in front of me. The third time she called for help her son-in-law had been a jerk to her. She said he refused to come over, jump start it, and take her to get a battery for it. I jumped up and took care of that in a heartbeat. Then she offered it to me for a price many would consider smoking. But per my usual way of doing business I offered less. She took the offer. I had just sold another festiva for a tidy profit. I happened to have the cash ready! I told her I'd be back the next day with cash. Then I picked this up.

This was my favorite comment when I first showed it here. LOL Brad!!

This is the original thread when I first brought it home.

Then I got busy waxing and detailing. I painted, waxed, striped, and modified an 88-89 grille. This was the result.

    Before

    After

    Before

Next with full text tech support from HTCHBK Joseph I installed a complete ac swap.
EJP2fast Eric supplied a rear wiper gear from an escort wagon.

Then I installed a complete aspire brake and suspension swap. Front rotors, calipers (painted them), struts and springs, rear axle beam, drums, struts with front festiva springs cut by 2 coils. And to finish it off I installed 4 tenzo sinko r 15" wheels.

And here is the original thread for the brake swap.
Discuss improvements to your Festiva or Aspire in the handling, braking, wheels and tires areas.

Finally my friend Jack made an in bumper trailer hitch. I went to Texas and picked up a small enclosed aluminum trailer.

So in summary this is the coveted 90LX, optioned out with a factory spoiler, underseat tray, one year only holey headrests, one year only swoopy power mirrors, factory mudflaps, custom 88-89 grille, aspire brake and suspension swapped, rear wiper escort wagon wiper gear (makes the wiper rest in the down position) swapped, with 15" wheels.

My Festiva is a 1992 GL Sport 5 speed purchased in May 2002 with 100,100km, probably close to 400,000km now. This is my second Festiva; my first was a white 92 GL Sport that was written off after being rear ended while stopped at a red light.

I used to subscribe to Motor Trend and remember reading their Festiva article back in ’88 and have liked the Festiva since. Part of the challenge with this car is that it’s my daily driver so I can’t afford to have it out of commission for very long.

    Mechanical:
    - B6 swap (’86 block, ’88 injection) done in September '07
    - FMS lightweight flywheel
    - FMS clutch
    - 2” custom exhaust front to back with performance muffler and Ractive stainless tip
    - Modified airbox for K&N filter originally intended for Chev Beretta ( I might have a copy of the article that was on the original ff.com)
    - Pacesetter short shifter with new shifter bushings and shortened shift rod.
    - rebuilt cylinder; shaved and with mild port and polish.
    - FMS performance cam
    - Motovator header

    Suspension:
    - Tein coilovers all four corners (rears are on, front will be one in a couple of weeks)
    - FMS stainless brake lines all four corners
    - Adjustable strut bar
    - Aspire front sway bar
    - Replaced front suspension bushings, lower control arms etc.
    - Aspire brakes all four corners. Used the thicker rotors from an automatic
    - Currently running Federal 185-60's on 13" Toyota "basketweave" alloy wheels

    Exterior:
    - Clear, flush mounted signal lights
    - European tail lights
    - Mazda 121 grille, head and clear corner lights
    - High mount LED third brake light mounted inside
    - Body color door handles
    - “Swoopy” power mirrors.
    - Stainless steel hydraulic hood strut
    - Tinted rear windows
    - Tint across top of windshield.
    - Bosch fog lights hooked up to factory switch.
    - Rear wiper modified to park horizontally at the bottom of the window rather than vertically.

    Interior:
    - Seats from a first generation Toyota MR2
    - Custom console with dual cup holders
    - “Hot Wheels” floor mats
    - Aftermarket steering wheel
    - Custom clock install
    - Tach cluster with 180 km/h speedometer
    - Variable speed intermittent wipers
    - Chrome interior door handles
    - Chrome trim rings for window winders
    - Mazda 323 rear view mirror
    - Grab handles for front & rear passengers
    - Factory air conditioning

    Sound:
    - Pioneer DEH-4000USB head unit
    - Sony 5 ź” speakers in the doors
    - Clif Design 6”x9” three way speakers in custom cargo cover

Five of us made the trip in this car to Festiva Madness V last fall! 6000 miles in 14 days! We posted a blog about the trip... here's the link to the first post.

This was taken before I installed the A/C

I'm hoping to get some rust repairs done this year. I have replacement front fenders and a rust free hatch to be installed. I'm also hoping to get a better flowing air intake figured out.

We're planning another road trip this summer down the west coast to San Fransisco and Yosemite then back up past the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone.

I would also like to take the chance to say thank you to the members of ff.com. Your encouragement, help and advice (not to mention purchases of various and sundry Festiva goodies) have make this on-going project possible!

This is definitely the closest race I have ever seen. It must be a precursor to the presidential elections. In the end, the people will get what they want. The nice thing about a democracy is that every single vote counts. Even the last one, if it ends in a tie. What happens if everyone has voted and it is still tied? Does the FF.com supreme court vote to break the tie? I hope there is an odd number of members.

Well! Let me show you what I pulled!
I pulled this to festiva madness!!

Inside was an engine on the bottom floor and that night my two precious girls and I camped up top!! ON the bed I made!

When the bed is out I've hauled lots of car parts.

I also hauled this big utility trailer. It's big enough I've hauled a corvair, an accord, a protege5, and about a hundred festivas. When hauling cars I used my dad's truck to tow but when hauling brush and a motorcycle I used cream puff like this!

I also pulled a festiva with it. Click the pic for a video.

Close, Where are your pics Fastivaca? Yor car sounds great, but what sealed the vote for me was all of neanres pics. Both stories were great, just had to go with what I saw.
