  • Facebook Festiva Of the Month!! June 2013

    Congrats! Raffaele Dominic Preston Prafeston

on Facebook Festiva Of the Month!! June 2013

Bought my car in July of 2012 for $700. It's a 1992 Festiva L. Does have A/C thought not working and the passenger mirror! That was about all it had going for it at the time. I've since put a lot of time and money into it. I've become a Junkyard Junky! The transmission went out a couple months ago, but I was able to get another one relatively locally and I didn't really have much down time. I am leaking some oil, but for the most part it's been a great car thus far. I'm averaging a little over 37mpg and have put something like 8,000 miles on it since I've owned. Here is a listed of the things I've done since purchasing.

Maintenance things to pass inspection: Installed Wolo Max Sound Horns, Replaced Cracked Windshield, replaced master cylinder (escort upgrade) and brake booster.

    Upgrades:
    White Tach Cluster
    New Tailgate with Defrost/Wiper
    Factory Spoiler
    LX Seats
    20% Tint
    Protege Center Console
    Smoothie Taillights
Hatch Latch w/ Switch Wire and Cargo Light
Civic Short Shifter w/ Purple Shift Knob
    Swapped to Manual Seat Belts
Escort Dome Light w/ Map Lights
    Orange Powder Coated Alloy Wheels
Alpine Headunit and JL Audio Speakers in stock locations
Bought Thule Roof Rack w/ Festiva Fit Kit
    Sunroof

    Things still needing installed:
FMS Springs - Hopefully installing this weekend.
KYB Struts/Shocks - Hopefully installing this weekend.
Modify/Paint and install trim to fit manual belts
    Paint Hatch
    Fix slight rust/possibly replace hood

Thanks guys...I've had an oil leak and I'm really slow at working on the car so it's been down for over 3 weeks now. I got the oil pan gasket on and the front crank seal and now I see that that some how my new gasket broke toward the front. I don't know how. I was slowly tightening and zig zagging which ones I did before torquing them to spec! This sure is annoying. I'm gonna get up under there with liquid gasket and see if I can't cake some of it on by the broken spot. If that doesn't hold I guess I'll be doing another pan gasket install!

Front struts are also currently out and awaiting new bolts so I can put my KYBs and FMS springs in.

How do I get my Festiva nominated for car of the month? It's a 1989 Festiva LX. I have Ford Focus spindles up front Miata spindles in the rear, 626 sedan coil springs up front, Miata springs in the rear, KYB GR-2 struts all the way around B6 engine bored .040 over with custom pistons and rods, headwork is ported and polished with oversized valves and honeycomb springs, Honda civic short throw shifter, powder coated 13" rims with 165/60/13 tires, 20% tint on the front windows and 5% tint on the back three, Pioneer stereo 55 x4 with a 1300 watt Phoenix amp Bose 4" speakers up front and 5 1/4" in the doors with Pioneer 6 x 9 speakers in back mounted in factory slots and 2 10" Punch subs. My car came with the smoothie taillights and I have recently painted it Fleet Electric Blue Metal flake with carbon stripes on top and oh yeah the sway has been upgraded.

To completely fix an oil leak on the 1.3 engine USE OIL PAN GASKET FROM a 95 Aspire where it has front and rear seals and is not a one piece gasket and your problem will stop
