  • Voting for July 2017 FOTM

My apologies for the delay this month. I've been pretty swamped at work and haven't had much time for car stuff.

Please excuse the glitch with some of these pictures. Photobucket has made some big changes and we're going to have to use another host or our imaginations.

Have done some suspension and brake work recently. Going to do the other axle here soon and new tires as well. Just recently upgraded the turn signals to clear, and got my JDM grille and new headlights. Going to run the grille until I paint it then it will be complete. Also added a lip to the front bumper as well. Liking how it is turning out.

It's an '88 L I bought at a flea market for $700 bucks after I blew the engine in my two daily drivers. It was supposed to just be cheap transportation until I got the other two fixed, but I found Charlie's "Advance Suspension" topic, did everthing like he did, and I've been crazy about it ever since... enough so that I've bought three others and a Capri XR2 for the g-series transmission. I'll start a dual sidedraft Weber carb'd B6d swap soon.

So far I've put about 24k miles on it with only a few minor issues. I went ahead and redid the brakes when I rebuilt the suspension. I rolled/pulled the fenders so I could fit Escort wheels and 1" adapters. Added a Civic short shifter and did Charlie's shoulder bolt/nylon washer shift bushing trick to tighten up the shifter, a Nardi Classic steering wheel, Cibie driving lights behind the grill, and a Yakima rack.

    A few before/after shots:

Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.
