  • Gutted festy today

Took out the rear seat, all moulding, rear interior panels, and carpet in my 88 Festiva today.

Previous owner used the car only for runs to the dump, and the back was GROSS. I also simple green'ed the entire front interior. It actually came out pretty good. I'll get pics soon, I promise.

With that bit of weight gone, the little thing can really get up and boogie for a 1.3L 4-popper with a bad clutch, 186k miles, and a bad accelerator pump.

I will take some pics of my race festiva. I took out the rear seats, front seats, replaced with only one seat which is a corbeau non reclining bucket with a harness, removed all belts, removed all plastics, removed carpet, removed all sound deadening tar, removed firewall mat, removed speakers and radio, removed 3rd brake lite, removed the rear defrost wiring, removed complete dash, removed all extra wiring, gut the doors completeley (I have an aluminum stick holding each door window up stationary in place), drilled out the spot welds for the rear seat side brackets (large metal pieces), obviously spare and jack, the cieling lining and supports, I am sure there is more, I just don't care about comfort what so ever and will remove anything possible, LOL I removed my e-brake for weight savings....

Are you going to fast before each race as well to lower actual body weight? I hear underwear and socks are good for 2 pounds. Shave your head and don't drink water that day. Trim fingernails and toenails and pull all your teeth out. Shave eyebrows and eyelashes.

Take it back to the back porch, join the 3 string revolution.

It's a damn shame that I'll probably only be able to use this car only about another 9 months. The car needs to be inspected (no big deal, my shop will pass anything ) but the frame rails are completely rusted through. It's only a matter of time before it falls apart.

I'm looking for a newer Aspire or something, but there are NONE around here.
