i read that cities are importing the small micro cars similar to the smart for use in place of parking scooters. they can import and use them on the road, yet we cant. below is a pic of a nissan used by a pd in california. have you ever seen any cars like this used for that purpose? maybe its a california thing. i wish we could import cars and not have to worry about the 25 yr law.

I have seen a car that collapsed like that. It's been so long I don't know if that was it. Pretty interesting. It doesn't too good though. The nissan is pretty cool. I think we need some of those here too.

the usa wont allow importation of cars less than 25 yrs old. there are some grey market ways around it sometimes depending on the make and the money you got. but its expensive.

in canada its 15yrs. so people import cars from japan to canada and resell them. i wanted a older toyota 4x4 diesel van. they didnt export them here, now they import them to canada, but cant get em over the border easily.

yeah i like that little nissan car also. i wonder if nissan will import something similar now that the smart is here.

OK, I need someone in Canada to import a Festiva GTX from Japan for me. Then drive it to Ohio and leave it here. I will pay all expense's.

probably right, i look at some auction sites in japan selling cars for overseas, now and then and they dont even list kia on the drop down menu. probably could have someone find one though. lot easier to find my 4x4 toyota van i want. id love to have a gtx also. still the same hassles with importing it.

was it here, im not sure someone was talking about how a person that had dual citizenships (canada/usa) can drive a car they own into the states then legally sell it to a person in the states. havent found anyone with the dual citizenships yet  but that looks to be a way around the 25 yr rule.

Lol look under Mazda Festiva. There are lots, fun top's and GTX's etc. About $4500 CAD landed. Have considered it, just RHD makes me not want one.

                      Thanks

yep you are right mazda festiva, i hadnt ever tried that before. rhd would take some getting used to..haha but it wouldnt stop me from purchasing one.

no gtx's listed on this site for now though. but the inventory keeps changing im sure.

the last site is an auctions statistics page. so it lists all the festivas sold. i saw only 1 gtx listed. that was on page 9 of the last link. many didnt give a model or information though.

i found 4 on the site you listed. one looked like a gtx maybe. now its gone off the list.

the 94 and 95 looked like the egg, not the box. funny kia kept making the pride looking like the familiar festiva up till 2000. so i was surprised seeing the egg shaped car with the name festiva under the mazda badge. i didnt see any kia models listed there either. thanks for the site link.
