  • Why is the Festiva so disrespected?????

Well all of my friends are car enthusiasts and everyone I talk to hate festivas. Honestly i have always liked the idea of small cars and the ideas of the engine swap, ( i mean how sweet is a turbo in a 1700lb car)..... I talked to people about my goal and they all look at me and laugh.. Is it really me or is people not open to the idea of the b6t swap....

i just cant wait till i do the swap and leave all the haters in the dust.....

That's part of the joy of owning a festiva. Clueless people in awe when you prove them wrong on so many levels. But you can't be concerned with other people's opinions and still drive a festiva. People generally really aren't open to festivas at all. I've said it before I'll say it again. More for me.

I think it's because Festiva customizing isn't as mainstream as say..customizing a civic. People don't really like change, they conform to the norm. Someone throws a body kit and an AEM sticker on their civic, chop their springs in half, and throw on some cheap white fake rally rims and they call it an upgrade. But if you get performance springs, J-Spec/Euro body kit and do an engine swap, then they call it a waste of money. Not to mention the Festiva isn't exactly a car that show's off your 'wealth'. Which is why I think that people would choose to drop $3000 on a civic and have no performance upgrades than drop $3000 on a Festiva and actually have a beast of a car.

I think this explains it the best:

Unless you go absolutely crazy on your festiva(extreme lowering, custom body kit, the full shebang), people don't seem to care.

I believe that's a Corolla GTS, which is my favorite car to start out Gran Turismo with.

Because Festivas are old, small, and cheap they get thrown in the same category with Yugos, Geos, and Hyundai Excells. People who have never had one don't remember what great cars they are stock or modded. Ignorance of the Festiva motivates the lack of respect it receives.

^ Alexander9289 summed it up well. And he is right on the corolla GTS. Sweet little 16 valve car. My buddy used to autocross his.

It's because the Festiva is a crap-box... Who would want to drive something that cost less than $7,000 new?

I think it's great though... You can laugh at my car all you'd like. It's quick and it still pulls in 30+ MPG... Plus, there's no payment on it anymore.

The Festiva was never designed to be a collectible, fast, or rare. It was a cheap disposable car that was sold as basic transportation. I bought my first one as a winter beater. I would at that time never thought I would end up fixing one up and enjoying it the way I do today.
