I don't know how old you guys are, but I grew up in the world of the Gremlin, Pinto, Astre/Vega, Chevette (which my friend put a 283 in) Dodge Arrow, Mini Cooper, Valiant, Volare, Duster, Subaru Brat and Granma's plastic-woody station wagon doors with mactac... and the infamous Mirthmobile. And at some point, myself, my friends or our parents and grandparents have had one or more of these now highly sought out classics.

The Festiva?? It's been the family's old reliable everytime the minivans, suvs or pickups broke down, blew up, or got stuck or frozen below -30. It's been to more soccer games than Beckham and more shopping trips than Hilton. My neices and nephews love riding in it, and they'll love it even more after it gets some well deserved pimpin'.

        Patience young Luke...
        Cheers!

Just so you know my Festiva never gets laughed at. It has a rep and barely left it's home.

          Thanks

I like to tell people when they poke fun at my Festiva that "it gets shinier every time gas prices go higher" and then I just laugh at them. Most people actually do seem intrigued and want to know how many MPG's it gets. I like to answer that "I don't know, I only had it a couple of thousand miles - I'll find out when I go to put gas in it." I'm telling you, if you can't have fun with this car, there is something wrong with you. You have to be a pretty secure person to drive one of these cars - You can let what other people think of you keep you from a great little car like the Festiva. In my travels, I have come across a couple of Festiva owners and every one of them seem to be good, down-to-earth people (as I suspect you are). Drive that Festiva and laugh at the world!

I don't care what kind of car you like, 41 mpg and no car payment looks sharp to most people.

I agree with many of the responses so far.
IMO, the aspire (Aus festy) was really 'NOT' a good looking car, was esentially sold as a 'throw away', and is very popular with the 'older' generations and young female drivers.
This has it's benefits and also it's drawbacks.
Because it is not popular, they are really hard to buy parts for, specifically performance upgrades, and the price for genuine replacement parts (in aus) are phenominal.
But on the flipside- i think we are a great bunch of individuals who can 'think outside the square' and many times i have seen some very tasteful and downright insane transformations of the little festy.
I'm just glad that after all these years i can still say that i own something truly unique.
