  • Lost the turbo car today, well almost

Drove down to taco bell, went in to order, got my food and left. I parked right in front of the door and when I came out the car was gone. Usually I leave the keys in it but this time I had them. So I looked across the parking lot and there it was. I left it in neutral ops:

The wheel was turned slightly so it rolled back and made a slight turn and hit a curb. No damage to the car. Just a bit embarrassing.

    whoa!

Man, I thought I was the only one that did that kind of stuff!

When I was in college I stopped at a pizza place in a plaza type shopping area to see a friend of mine that worked there.
A few minutes later a delivery person says there's a yellow car in the middle of the 4 lane main street in front of the mall.
My car had rolled down the entire parking lot (100 feet or so), jumped a curb ran over a newly planted tree and stopped up against the center curb/divider in the middle of the street.
I jumped in started it up and discreetly drove it home, away from the soon to arrive college "friendly" police of Blacksburg, VA! ops:

I did that once. My car rolled down the driveway and knocked over my neighbor's mailbox.

Luckily they were cool and said to not worry about it.

hmm, ok, i have to forgive one of my friends for being really stupid i guess b/c she did the same thing, with worse results. She left her accord in neutral w/o the parking brake at her house, which is on a gravel hill with woods at the bottom. tore up a fender, door, rear 1/4 panel, and corner light + other scratches.

you got lucky! I always use my parking brake and put it in gear, better safe than sorry!

I did the same thing when i was at a local autozone. I came out and the car had rolled down the other end of the parking lot.

I did it another time on a job for glassmasters left the car out of gear with no parking break, and it rolled down a steep hill and hit a bottom dump rock trailer bending the bumper, tailgate, broken taillight, truck tool box was smashed shut, and the imact made the front of the bed smash the cab of the truck on the passenger side.

Don't feel bad....alot of people have done it.

Similar story here! I parked my Escort GT at my sisters house once, left it running. Came out and it was gone! It rolled down the driveway, across the street and up the drive across the street and next to the garage. I had to look a couple times before I realized where it went!

Back when I still had my 1981 F250 in college I came home one weekend and found a parking spot in the"cage" fenced in college parking lot. I wake up to campus fuzz beating down the door. they asked if I owned a Gray F250 . . . I reluctently said yes . . . they then told me to get dressed and come to the parking lot. . . upon arival to the parking lot I found my truck kissin bumpers with tricked out GMC . . . apperently I never set the hill brake and the truck slipped the clutch through out the night and just bumped ( no damage to either truck) It was pretty neat watchin my truck crawl accross the parking lot on vid playback . . . they sped it up some. Good news is I got a date out of the whole thing when I found out the chick that owned the truck was single.

ive done that also. my mustang rolls down a steep driveway across the street hit the curb, least no car was coming.

dont you feel like everyone is watching you when you do something like that? i know when i do a dumb thing, which is frequently, i always feel people are watching me.

ever forget where you parked your cart in the walmart, then go round trying not to act like you lost your cart full of stuff? i had a cart full of stuff im pushing out to the car in the rain, i drive it thru some standing water, of course a huge hole there and my whole cart tips over, i picked up the cart threw it across the parking lot. glad it happened in the middle of the night at least.

so dont feel bad im a walking stupidist videos commercial. :?

I've done it too. I was picking up an order at Ragazzis resaurant. I got out with the parking brake on but in neutral. It's my nephew's $750 festiva for sale now in the for sale forum. The brake doesn't work. I saw it out of the corner of my eye rolling across the parking lot backwards towards you know.... a bmw, a lexus, etc etc. I was still only a few feet away and was able to jump in and stop it. Todd00, yes I did feel like everyone was looking at me saying "look at the retard". My wife left our accord in nuetral with the brake off a couple of months back. I got up one morning and it was in my neighbors yard between 2 bushes. The bumper had knocked down the 80 year old railing. No other damage though. I nailed the railing back up and told the neighbor when he came home. The accord had come across the street and slipped safely between our element and our gmc truck. She sure dodged a bullet on that one!

My brother left his GMC out of gear once. It rolled down the driveway and hit the house. It bent the siding in and broke a headlight.
Another time my ex-girlfriend and I were pusing her car out of the way at a gas station because she needed a jump and I was behind the car and she was in the drivers door. We got it rolling and she just stopped pushing, leaving the car to roll parked cars. I had to run faster than the car open the drivers door again and pump the brakes to stop it. First time I cussed her out.
