  • R-12 refrigerant?

I am curious how many of you guys needing of R-12 for your A/C?

My friend, he said have bunch of virgin R-12 cans and some tanks and he might consider to sell local on ff.com for just special. no special paper license... but use your common sense not to try venting CFC products into air and destorying the our earth ozone.

So far I know R-12 is 'prefect' refigerant for car A/C system cooling and it last very long time... but course it have bad CFC that do harm the ozone but good is much stable in hot outside than R-134a.

Not sure what cost for per cans and I'll talk my friend about it later...

Not all people will do sell to licensed EPA and almost all 80%+ people wont follow the law. who cares? it seem lot of people downloading pirate software/gaming/music/video and etc everyday and again who cares?

So my friend was only helping for people on this ff.com and you do the responsible to caring of our ozone earth and he does like to support Ford Festiva club as well. R-12 is not for everyone but it will restored to OEM A/C system and normally will last for long time than R-134a.

So here your chance yo get R-12 cans before it will never find other good opportunity and it was very kindly for my friend to offered you to get R-12 without the hassle.

IIRC, Freeze 12 is blend with R-134a(80%) and R-142b(20%)

Some refrigerants can have high toxic and cause to have cancer if exposed on skin or breath.

                DO NOT BLEND REFRIGERENTS!!!

they have been lab tested to be of no harm at their mixes once you start mixing it can cause leathal amounts in your system and possibly start corroding your system.

If you dont want to pay bucks for R-12 they make conversion kits to charge your system with R-134a

AND FOR GOD SAKES DONT SELL R-12 ILEGALLY - you could face some serious fines and possible jail time

Per the Montreal Protocol R-12 can not be manufactured or imported to U.N. Nations which ratified the treaty!
The U.S. has signed on the doted line, as well as Canada.
I don't know about Mexico, but doesn't matter as it is illegal to bring it into the country.
About 10 yrs ago someone got busted big time for routing Indian made R-12 through Mexico and into the U.S., big meaning like a couple million dollar fine!

That said, it is illegal to sell it!
However, we could trade for it!
And would be considered a hazardous material to ship so would have to be send via bonded hazard material shipper/courier.
                      Or hand delivered.
This is were a network of festiva owners would be handy.

                      Example:
I'm sure FestivaWes could have found room for a can or two of R12 to be moved form CA to Missouri then to the Tallmadge, OH for the Oct 13th meet then west ward to PA or NY or Canada with another attendee.
Works the other way too, especially if it not something like R12. I fly out to CA a couple of times a year and could take parts with me. Also fly into Houston, TX every few months.
But its not the same anymore now that DJ isn't there.

2 years ago I had my 85 Sportsmobile (dodge chassis) completely redone in Hermisillo Mexico for 370$, included were a new compressor, receiver/drier, evaporator, 2 a/c lines changed and fully charger with r12. Still blows as cold as can be. R12 sells for about 5/6 dollars for a 12oz can.
I do as much work in Mexico as I can as the Mexican mechanics are not r&r guys, they actually fix things.
