Anyone ever use Outlook express ? Ive needed to use it in the past but don't understand. It asks for a name to display, ( I know that one ), then it asks for an email address, then it asks for my incoming mail server and suggest three options. POP3, IMAP,HTTP ???? Then it asks for an out going server (SMTP) I no understand Could someone explain ? ops:

are you trying to connect to a web based email or your isp's provided email?

Call your isp and ask them what type of email you have. Hotmail is HTTP, most regular isp's use pop3 account for incoming and smtp for out. What ISP do you use?

I use Outlook express for ALL my email addresses, I have about 10, hotmail, and pop (post office protocol) accounts alike

:dontknow: I usually run across Outlook Express when I'm trying to contact a business or organization, would that make it a web based email ?? FMS for instance, if you click on "contact us" then Outlook express pops up. Sorry, I'm so illiterate I cant even answer your question. I figured all email was web based.

My ISP is Embarq, so you think my incoming server is pop3 and my outgoing is smtp?? Outlook seems inconvenient to use esp if you don't know which servers you use. I usually just copy the email address from Outlook and send them a regular email.

go to mozilla.org/thunderbird and get thunderbird, PULLEAAASSE do not use outlook or outlook express, Trust me i work do some tech support work... it just decides to stop working when it feels like it. Thunderbird on the other hand is very stable.
