  • I just found a 53K mile Festy for cheap

I just found a 1989 Festy with 53K original miles.

The paint is faded, and it's an automatic....

but, I think I can get it for $750.

I need another Festy so I can finish my blue one as a D Mod solo car, or at least a decked out E prepared.

What do you guys think? Think that is a good deal? No rust, and I don't see too many dents.. I haven't seen it in person yet, but am thinking about going and buying it tomorrow. It's about 2.5 hours from my house.

    Here it is:

If it has no mechanical problems I would say that is a good deal for the milage and shape it is in.

How do the autos hold up? How are they to drive?

I have driven the auto w/ a b3. I kind of like it. It does turn too many rpms on the highway, and the first 10 mph is painful, but it goes 40 in first. I'd say get it just because of the low miles.

Eh - if you can get it that cheap, go for it... My first was an automatic (my dads 2 that he has are auto) and they're ok... Not as fun as manual, but still alright.

And I agree... if you get it, keep the horns. I'd ditch those hippy stickers though!

There's an '89 automatic in my town with 260k miles and is still going. I'd say $750 is a great price considering the milage. The horns alone are worth 50 bucks.

Mine is a auto with 217K on it, no problems. You could always convert it to a 5 speed.
