            • Yeah, this is a tough one.

              A couple of hints:

              1) It DEFINITELY isn't Japanese.
              2) The company is known more for making commercial trucks.

That's all for now. I'll let you torture yourselves a little more.

              • Tom,
Is it any of the following?
                Ford:
                Prefect
                Sierra
                Mondeo
                Fiesta
                Escort
                Popular
                Ka
I may have just listed all the as yet unnamed British Fords I could think of. May have

It's RHD, implying it's UK, as you say it's not a Jap, but it's not a UK number plate!
                        Iveco?
                        LDV?

                        • It's not English.

                          Another hint:

                          The vintage is early 1950's
At the time, it was the world's fastest production car. No racing successes, but voted most beautiful production car.

                          Ok, ANOTHER hint:

                          It also isn't Italian.

While I'm beating myself up on the "worlds fastest production, non Japanese, non-Italian rhd, roadster, I stumbled on some amusing odd balls here....

Unrelated but, I'm thinking the world's fastest "production car" in 1956 was the Chrysler 300.

Several books, virtually page by page, and five hours on the iNet produced no results. I gave away years of Road & Track mags a few years back. The trapezoid, grill, rhd, leather hood straps, glass over head lights w/chrome bezel... so many clues. Arrggggg.
So, unless anyone wants to keep trying, I'm throwing in the towel on this one.
                                Thanks for the challenge.
