Yup! Berkeley it is. The engine's an Excelsior Talisman three cylinder 2-stroke of about 500cc.

I forget what they called it, but isn't it a Pinin Farina bodied Chrysler?

Couldn't get simpler than that. The car sure has a lot of Ghia influence and may well have been from that design studio.

It's a Bond 875. Hillman Imp engine (detuned) at the rear, weighing 900LBs. They went like stink! Cornered quite reasonably too, due to the engine being at the back, and the front wheel moving in the opposite direction to the direction of the corner. I don't know how that worked, I guess it must have been on a trailing arm or something similar.

                          • A little more info on the Bond 875 - Racing driver John Surtees unofficially broke the saloon car lap record at Brands Hatch, managing to attain 100 mph (161 km/h). http://www.imps4ever.info/specials/bond.html Sounds like fun. I'd like to know more about *the front wheel moving in the opposite direction to the direction of the corner.*

I assume the front wheel was on a trailing arm that pivoted in front of the wheel. If the steering was turned left, the wheel would move towards the right hand side of the car. The longer the trailing arm, the greater the movement towards the side of the car.

I get it. Like a coaster wagon when a kid rides in it using the handle as the steering input device. Push the handle one way, the wagon goes the other. Scary thought for a car that can go 100 mph! I have to look into this farther. BT Tom if you find any sketches etc, please PM me as this would pull this thread off course.

                                Thanks
