  • New (to me) welder.. I LOVE Craigslist!!

I have been looking for a decent little Mig welder for exhaust, body panels, roll bars.. etc.. you know a hobby welder, plus...

Craigslist.. tonight.. He listed it for $275

I called him, and he said he was amazed that he had gotten so many calls.... I told him I'd be right over, just beat a guy there and was loading it up when he rolled up

I gave him $250 for it..

Hobart "Handler" 120 amp. Nice cart, Argon bottle and regulator... pretty damned good price..

Pics... lol.. GOTTA have pics.. (excuse the mess in my garage.. I am a slob)

I have a pretty decent little Campbell Hausfield Flux 80 for sale now.. decent little starter welder. I outgrew it. I have fixed a LOT of little stuff with it.. not a GREAT welder by any means, but gets the job done. Not sure what it's worth $100 or less I am sure.

good steal. im jealous! is it 240v or just 120?

i got one of those CH stick welders... 70 amp... good for nothing. they claim 70 amp but it cant even melt regular 50-70a regular rod (cant remember the #.. 6011?) it can only melt the 'specialty' little packs of super thin rods designed for it. and even then it just melts them, it dosent burn down into the base metal.

You don't have it on an extention cord do you? I used one of those with some 50amp rods, and it did OK... not great... but I did get penetration.

I know that my CH Flux80 won't work worth a damn if I try to use it on an extention cord... actually, I use it on a 100footer, but it's like 10 gauge or something, it's friggin huge.

na, thats with it plugged directly into a plug that has its own 20A breaker.
when i first got it worked ok. i think i just let it overheat a few too many times. :?

Hobart is good stuff! I have had a 150 handler for about 10 years never needed anything likes abuse I think. The biggest reason I bought it, it has 100% duty cycle. Enjoy, you will like it. $250 is a great deal at $500 it's still worth it.

                  Thanks
