  • should i?

i have a chance to buy a 76 chevy pickup with a 350 in it w/ auto trans.

for 600. the motor has 57k orig miles on it. do yall think i should jump on it to put the motor in the 51?

again the motor swap would only be temporary in the 51 until i can get the funds to get it done right.

    edit

after getting thoughts from other fourms and my dad, i going to try and jump on it.

nothings positive on it yet but if i get it i may drive to the farm and pull the engine there, that way i can keep the body, and put it back in when i get the flatty done.

lol the reason im considering it is that its only a temp swap. the flathead will be put back in but that will be over 2 grand to get it running again. after the machine work, parts, pumps. etc..

and since i know its almost a drop in swap, (my dads 50 ford had a 350/automatic in it) and all he had to do was make 2 mounts.

Thats the nice thing about old trucks, they have the room to put about anything in there. Were Im the a big fan of cross breading this may be a good idea until you get funds to do it right. Projects tend to die when they sit too long.
