bad month for festivas? tell me about it.. my festivas head seized up causing the timing belt pulley to rip right off. according to the mechanic there could be a number of other things that could have caused this to happen so even fixing this problem wouldnt fix the real problem and he didnt recomend i put that much money into this car ..... not like i have the money for it anyway..
he also says he can get a replacement motor for 500 bucks and install it for 1100

so yesterday my festiva died.... some of my family and friends from work have been waiting for this news for awhile.

i'm sure you could find a B3 on this site for cheap, like for example, i have one that i've taken some sensors off etc. but the block and head are great, this is the engine i pulled out of my car,

I was in the red winterstiva, I had just recently changed the speedo to a tach cluster and I guess it is empty before it says it is!

Guys, I got low one time and the car started to sputter. 15 miles later, I filled it up and it took over 10 gallons (I think it was like 10.3 if I remember right).
Didn't you guys get any stuttering or sputtering first? Just curious - BTW my needle was below "E" when I noticed it was sputtering. Who knows how much farther until I would have been SOL.

No studdering or anything, it still showed over an 1/8 tank and just died.

WOW - That stinks - the needle is adjustable by taking off the lense of the cluster (you have to remove the cluster from the car) and forcing it towards empty. It is just a press fit on round shaft. mine is slightly below the Red area of the gauge with no power applied. I guess I was really lucky since it gave me a warning. I think it sputtered after I made a turn but I can't really remember anymore. This was back when I first got it and was going about 800 miles a week.

Mine didnt used to read right but I found (after 3 revisions of dash lighting) that with the cluster out and no wires connected if you position the needles at the bottom edge of their minimums then they read correctly

If the metal arm that the float sensor is on gets bent you will not get an accurate reading. I bet it's easier to adjust that than the needle in the cluster.
