  • WOO WOO goes the Festy :)

    i got a working driving Festy 8)

she sat in my backyard for a few months and now it is running and driving
over 2 days of work (about 10-12 hours with breaks), swapped in a 5spd tranny and new clutch kit into my '89. went and got the new battery and put it in today. fired her up and drove it around the block. now it has a nasty exhuast leak around the cat converter but is driveable atleast  .
all thats left is too swap plates onto it from my Jetta and get her insured.

she will offset and compliment the Z28 nicely

Front side of cat could be cracked or broken flange off the down pipe.
Easy fix by re-wielding flange back in place.

Back side cat likely a gasket. Be careful when unbolting the mid pipe to replace the gasket. The studs from the cat are stainless and brittle. Will snap easily. PB Blast the nuts and use and impact wrench or cut/grind/burn them off and replace with Stainless steel and save yourself some pain and suffering later.

Awesome , I am glad it worked and is on the road , Festivas don't like to sit long , it speeds up their aging process , especially here in Illinois

yeah, i'm just glad it sat over the summer into the fall and not over the winter into the spring!
she might be burning oil, might be. i didnt drive it very long or let it run long but it was smoking some. hoping its just burning off crap from sitting.

i'll try and get some pics sometime. should i pose with it? LMAO

Pu241, thanks for the heads up on what to look for!

Soon you will probably forget about the Z28 and it will be sitting sitting in the back yard.
