  • New powerplant. *cries*

I have been reading the posts, it hasn't been a fun couple of weeks in festiva land.

Either i'm dealing with a clicking lifter, or something isn't right with the one valves on #4.

Eitherway, I'm forced into the engine upgrade much sooner than originaly anticipated. :x

I won't invest the time and effort to fix just the head, may as well put a new engine in her.

I was hoping to drive it for a little while at least.
Mon arme a moi, c'est un stylo.

Don't listen to any of these gearheads - take off the valve cover and examine the lifters :-)

Sticky lifer, common problem with Festivas. You can change the whole set in about 1 hr , I have done 4 or 5 over the years. I can do a set in 30 minutes now.

I fixed my sticky lifters by running half a can of Seafoam in the oil for 200-300 miles, then changing the oil.

If it gets louder, that means your low on oil.

Get ready to bash me....what lifters? My engine has a cam, ROCKERS, and lash adjusters. Isn't the term lifter used for a valve train component that's noti n this engine?

HLAs perform the same function as a lifter, so really it's a matter of po-tay-to or po-tah-to.

I've got the solid "lifters" in my B6, and they make a hellacious noise sometimes. I adjusted them, and they're even noisier. I've just accepted that my car is going to sound like an out of tune, evil, sewing machine.
