  • tool advice.

ok, im going to be looking into some misc tools for the resto. one of which, will be a set of dollies so i can get an extra few inches of clearence under the car. ( i dont have a whole lot of room above the car. maybe a foot. so i cant do car ramps. already thought about them.

but im too fat to get completely under the car as it sits lol. 2 inches would help alot.

anyway suggest a set of dollies. each one needs to support around 1000lbs. and a set of four for under $125

I made some ramps out of 2x12's. Gave me almost 6 inches more clearance. Then placed a 2x4 under the front of the ramp for a little more clearance. Works greats and I'm bigger than most.

Actually, 2 sets of jack stands would run you about $40!
So theey're cheap, have high load limits and are adjustable.
      What more could you want!

Do the jack stands...they're adjustable...and you can place them out of the way... also you can remove the wheels to do what ever.

uh, jackstands put 0 stress on the suspension... your lifting the car off the ground... so the wheels are off the ground... so there is zero weight on the suspension. (you put the jackstands on the frame rail /frame)

And if you mean stress on the frame... well then if the car is that rusted out.. put it back in the bush.
