  • All is well in Festiva land

The car drives like a new one again

Really I could tell a BIG difference , all new bearings and seals in the front .
The steering is tight like it used to be .

The bearings looked terrible , reddish /brown grease ,and the races .. the bearing surface was starting to come apart on the race and was not smooth by any means .

The thing that concerned me the most was .. the Drivers side rotor was coming loose , he said that several of the bolts had backed out like 2/3's of the way , so that may have been some of my noise .

So if it was not the bearings totally , it was not far off , now I will not be worrying about when their time was up .

New bearings all the way around :wav:

Excellent! For all the great attributes of the Festiva, front wheel bearings are propalbly the most over complicate task to handle...just getting to the rotors is a pain....the only good thing on the festiva is you can disconnect the strut and not sweat a re-allignment...Excellent.

      I know

I have replaced my rotors twice , the last time was over 2 years ago .

I just did not feel like tackling this one , I was going to take the hub off and take them to a machine shop , but when they said they have never seen one with shims .. I did not want to take them there .

I just let my local tranny shop do them ,very well trusted .

A lot of the trannys they do have to be shimmed .
      Thanks Wendells Transmission shop

Got back this evening from a 40 mile round trip on the highway , WOW was I a happy camper , no noises, no drifting and the steering really is the best it has ever been since I bought this car over 4 years ago .

Even with the side wind and gusting I did not feel it in the steering like I use to .

          I have fallen in love again :festiva: :love4: :love5: :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing5: :laughing5: :toothy10: :toothy10:
