Have a 1989 Festiva that is blowing water out of the overflow when trying to start. There is no water in the oil. It will not start, the turnover is not smooth. Can you give me suggestions on the problem?

Warped head bad head gasket check compression sounds like a lot of work ahead of you. or time for a better engine / rebuild -
Pull the plugs hook the plug wires to them and lay them on the valve cover.Now crank it I'll bet you shoot water out of at least one plug hole.If so next step is pull the head.30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others,hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones.
