The Truth About Cars website started a multi part series on festiva/121/pride history written up by Cory Lewis. he does pretty thorough research and the articles help sort out the convoluted distribution of the car over the world. also, i never knew or noticed that the 1.3 DOHC BJ had less cc than the 1.3 SOHC. here are link to the first 2 installments

We return to our Rare Rides Icons coverage of the Ford Festiva today. An important world vehicle for the likes of Ford, Mazda, Kia (and eventually many others), the Festiva arrived at a time when rear-drive subcompacts were being replaced by much more efficient models that were front-drive. And the Mazda-designed Festiva was certainly more efficient and more front-drive than the Fiesta it replaced.

Those are interesting, learned some things. I'll have to keep those articles handy if my newest and oddest addition to my festiva herd can find a way to get shipped from CA to me....
