    i dont know why but i like this car it looks like it could have some potentiol i really never got into escorts so i dont knwo what you could swap into it its only 700 bucks

        ah yes, first gen Escort GTs, love 'em! 1.9L HO... did you know Ford Motorsport used to make performance parts for them? Cams, ported heads, long tube headers... (I'll snap some pics tomorrow).

          Yup... the body was heavy but still fast if you tune up engine very good job... I did went over 110 MPH on hwy and seem not shaking very much.

          I still missed the first gen Escort GT hehe...

            ever seen the Turbo version? factory 1.6L turbo hotrod, baby! Fun, but a nightmare of vacuum lines (carbed blow-thru).

                Nice choice....bought my daughter 1996/1.9 last year....did a full top end and all other maint....12k/12 months maintenance free....they're really nice cars.

                    I had an '89 Escort Pony for a while, automatic, no power steering and falling apart at 72k miles. I sold it when I got my first Festiva running. Probably the smartest car decision I ever made.

                        I've seen a Probe LX 3.0L Vulcan with an Eaton M90 supercharger off of a SuperCoupe.... hmmmm 3.0L SC 1st gen Escort......

                        ooooo, and www.moranav6racing.com has stroker kits for the 3.0L!!!!

                          ^I thought Super Coupes used the 3.8 Essex. Hope I'm wrong though. I've got a 3.0 Vulcan in my Taurus. :twisted:

                              Good to know. Though at 175k, my Vulcan is probably past it's time, and the AX4N tranny is on borrowed time.
