  • Advantages Between the two? (Festiva vs. Aspire)

Okay guys, heres the scoop: I have found out that I can find Aspires easier than I can find Festivas. So my question to you guys is this: What advantages do the two have from each other? The only thing I could figure out was:

Aspire: Longer so itll have better control, easier to find, newer.

Festiva: Better looking (opinion), Lighter, Smaller, Rarer.
    Current cars:

1993 Ford Festiva 5-Speed - Festiclese III - Cousin of the Banhammer - "The Jalopnik Car"
    1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.
2013 Mazda Mazda2 - Exhaust and Wheels (the daily)
    2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

I can let you know in a month or so...lol...I recently picked up an Aspire for the wife. It has a blown motor but I have one from a Festy that I plan on using. The car is an auto with air , it will not get the best mileage but it has to be better then Bonneville she is driving and she really seems to like it. If all else fails though...BRAKE SWAP!!

i have never driven an aspire but i know the aspire brakes on a festiva are awesome

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Thanks man. Like I said, aspires are easier to find here. I would really want a Festiva, though. The Aspire just isn't as good looking in my eyes.

I had an Aspire I had bought new, and I'm currently looking for one now.

Since they're heavier and longer, they don't handle quite as well; However, that also equates to a slightly smoother ride in a daily driver.
They have a bit less pep because of the added weight, but are a bit quieter.

Aspires are definitely safer (bigger and had airbags). They were available with four doors. You lose some fuel economy, and the couple Aspires I've been in didn't seem as roomy on the inside.

the real reason ford built the aspire was so we could buy bigger better brakes for the festiva at that junkyard

From what I saw they are only 200 pounds heavier, which would be like adding another person in the festiva (for me, pretty big friends). is there any more room in the engine bay?

^^^ which is why I'm looking for one currently...

and, I need to research this, but, I think the 2004-up Kia Rio front knuckles might fit the Aspire, which would give us bigger front brakes...

hey jim, the aspire and capri use the same bearings, so really all you need to do is swap the aspire spindle to the capri knuckle and you can get 10.2" vented brakes and use pads from the aspire OR escort.
