  • major seugurey complete!

I now have, a functioning 2-way alarm/remote start, brakes, and HEAT!!!!

And im happy that i got to drive to work today because its been -30 without the wind chill here most of the week :x and the nearest bus stop is over a 3/4 mile away

The work started when my brakes whent out last week. Turned out the fluid had been leaking out of the pssgr side caliper. Ofcourse the new caliper had to be ordered in.

So while i was waiting for the caliper i had a few days where my car was going to be parked and there was nothing i could do about it... so i decided i had to look into why i had almost no heat. So i pulled my dash and heater core and it turns out the core was plugged SOLID. i figured while it was out id replace it... NOT. Employee price was $380 for a new one  so i had it cleaned at a rad shop

Then the alarm i ordered came... and i figured may as well install it while the dash is off. that whent ok. just a few things to confuse me, but it started on the first try! the viper is wayy cool. I hit a button and it starts and it claims 1 mile range

oh yea and the heat is awesome! im happy with it now

Smart move taking advantage of the time, you should post your findings about the heater core in the temperature sticky...nice job!

I guess you have to leave it out of gear if you intend to use the remote start ? How does the clutch switch work ? :?

I think I need a new heater core..whenever I would turn the heat on it would smell like maple syrup. Now it doesn't even smell at all, but then again it doesn't heat anything either I have to use the defoggers to heat up the car.

I always assumed that the majority of Canada smelled like maple syrup.

Ive made maple syrup in Missouri, got a jar in the cabinet right now. Goooood stuff. Easy to make. Collect sap, boil sap, add nothing.

the starter feed taps in past the clutch switch. so it remote starts fine but the clutch switch still works fine during regular use. I've also wired the system into the neutral gear switch, so the system knows if its in gear or not and it will not start if its in gear. if i hit remote start when its in gear the remote just beeps at me and it wont try start. perfectly safe. i just park in neutral and use the hand brake.

                        ill try get a video

Good to know. I was worried about you starting it in gear. You've put too much work into it to just crash it into something

I think I need to look at my heater core, my heat hasn't been hot enough this winter. Is it possible to remove just the fan, and reach in with a small vacuum hose? Might give some small improvement until I have time to remove the core....
