officialy in the green

I have sold enough parts off of my aspire and escort GT that I I am officially in the green. I bought the festiva for $150, the aspire (for brakes) for $250, and the escort GT was $200 of my cash. I traded my $140 GMC truck to my buddy for the engine wiring harness computer and custom installation to get it all in the festiva. I'll help but he'll run the show. So he put in $500 on the GT. I know that's kind of confusing, but the bottom line is my project festiva with a BP and aspire brake swap will represent a profit BEFORE it hits the road! 8) I have a 300 Z turbo and intercooler lined up for $100. The tires on the aspire swap are new too. So I'm looking at maybe putting $ into the exhaust, suspension, turbo and relevant plumbing. If I play my cards right I'll sell enough of the remaining parts off the GT and aspire to have a free BP turbo festiva. Man I love it when a plan comes together.

A running Festiva for $350 is pretty good considering what they go for on eBay!
Now just have to get those parts!

Thanks all. It's very satisfying doing what I do. My buddy Rick (oneeyepizzaguy here) is a smokin' mechanic and I give him his props. He gives me props on the deals I make. We got a good thing going. I just can't conceive of going to a junkyard and paying $350 for a BP and then $350 for the trans when for $700 I can get a whole GT and turn a profit on what I don't need from it.

Heheheh that's the plan! Priority was get the aspire and gt parted out so we could get them off the lot. The aspire is about done. Doors hatch, windshield, and airbags are all that's left.

make sure you save the front aspire swaybar for your festy too! With that big block up front you'll want all the better susp you can get

^ I got it. The complete swap is already together. I still have to pull the master cylinder. Did you use that or are you still using the stock MC?

It's the area plus my technique. I waited a while on the aspire and talked him down a good bit. I have patience, I'm persistent, and I'm nice. That adds up to smokin' deals. I only buy if it's a smokin' deal. That goes for cars, parts, musical equipment, and most everything else. I've passed on several aspires in varying condition. Plus being willing to part out, sit on parts, knowing where to sell, and sticking to a good price helps. I know a local guy who was trying to "help" me to remove the aspire engine. He came to the car with a pair of heavy duty wire cutters and I was like. Woah man, I sell or reuse anything I can. He said You're the kind of customer I don't like. I said that's why I don't hire you. He will cut a hose and then turn around a buy new. To me that's wasteful and foolish. My frugal, AKA cheap, AKA smart way of thinking will get me this swapped festiva for free and has allowed me to travel and play music from VA to CO to TX to TN to AL. I have more fun on way less money. It's always been out of necessity but it has always been a blast. I feel it's being a good steward of my time, my resources, the planet, etc etc etc.

I used the stock MC (i have a new stock one and didn't want to replace it with a used aspire one!), but if i could get a really good aspire MC for cheap i would probably do it.


I'm with you on being cheap, lol. I did my B6 swap for $100 (if you don't count the cost of the clutch and stuff, just the basic swap). You just have to wait it out and get good deals!

a stock 323 se 86-89 MC wil work also...i picked mine upnos on ebay for 32 bucks
