  • Pics of Ol Brownie

    I ordered this '85 Ford E-150 in Sep, '84 and took delivery Oct '84. I ordered the 351W High Output, 4 BBL, heavy duty C-6 3-spd auto, and towing package, plus most of the options available for the XLT. I ordered to tow a heavy travel trailer, and after 3 - 4 years, I found a 460 in a junk yard, had it built, pulled the 351 and installed the 460. It worked great except that it got about 6 mpg, no matter if it was towing or empty. In '98, I ordered another van, this one with the 7.3 diesel, and when it arrived, I rebuilt the 351 and reinstalled it. The 460 is still sitting in my garage.

    The 351 is balanced, blue-printed, bored .030, complete edelbrock package, complete MSD ignition package, and too many performance mods to mention. She's a sweet baby; I've her longer than I've had my wife.

          Ive got a Ford Club Wagon XLT with all the options too. Its a 1990 my brother ordered in 1989. Still have the original window sticker. Cost him $23,000 in 1989. I bought it from him when he got a new one ton to tow with. The 1990 has the tow package also. Unforunately the only pic I could find of it is after picking up this festiva after about six miles of a dirt road. It gets lousy mileage too but its still in great shape.

                Yes, this one is a gas hog as well; it gets about 12 mpg with a tail wind. But she SCREAMS! 0 - 60 in about 7 seconds. I told my wife that I wanted to be buried in it, but that will probably not happen. Put me in the drivers seat, tilt it back a little, hook up a solar cell for energy, and play a little Merle Haggard on continuous loop. Now that's heaven!

                    Sweet I like. I've been thinking about getting rid of the Escape and getting a full-size van to pull a pop-up or whatever needs hauling. What's the interior like buckets or benches?

                          VERY sweet Connie! My dad has driven nothing but Connies since '72, always straight sixes too. He just bought an '07 with a 4.6L v8, his first. And I'm with you, Brian, except I'd like to find a Falcon Connie (61-67).

                            OK. First, the dog's name is Burleson Erasmus Jack; Jack for short. But he doesn't know if his name is 'No Jack', or 'Dammit Jack'; he's really hard headed. Also, Ol Brownie is parked in the shade for a quick photo shoot and it's February. But I'm like you, I hate to see an animal in a car, parked while the owner is shopping, etc.

                            OK, FB; inquiring minds want ot know! What's a 'Connie'?

                              Econoline = Connie

                              at least, that's what I've always called them.

                              and I have a six year old son who also thinks his name is 'No Jack'!!
