  • while i was on a back road today.......

i decided to play a little bit, i could see a ways up the road where there was no intersections, no houses just an empty road so i put my foot down to the floor   until i was starting to run out of road and had to slow down otherwise i would have buried the needle

it actually isn't easy tryin to take a picture and watch the road at those speeds (160kph = 100mph)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

What model is the speedo out of ? my Aussi Carby 121 speedo only goes to 160 I was scared to go past 150 as the doors started to vibrate violently due to air pushing the seals apart from the door metal . lol

So 4500 RPM = 100 MPH ? Ill have to take freshtiva out for a 100mph run if the weather ever breaks. Im just a stocker but I think it will do it. I know what youre saying about taking a picture at speed.

Duh, guess it would be different since youve got a different motor. ops:
So Id only need like 4100 rpms to be at 100 MPH ?? :?

the motor has no diffrence in the rpms, its the tranny gear ratios and tire sizes that change the rpms.

if i missed somthing please tell me.

                righto!

damkids got bigger tires than stock so if anything he was going faster than the speedo was reading, Fresh you will probably have to rev to about 5k (+ or -) to hit 100mph.

It can be done without much trouble with the B3, i don't have a tach but i'm quite sure i've had my B6 up to 100- 110 ish, and still wasn't completely wound out. Speedo needle starts jittering off the plastic when you get going fast enough!

105 mph is about 4250 rpm in a 5-speed stock festiva. Been there, done that. Gotta remember though that the festiva tach clusters are known for not being dead on when it comes to engine speed. Sometimes the needle is to one side or the other through the whole power band. Most of the needles were not seated in the exact correct spot so they are off anywhere from -500 rpm to 500 rpm. Mind you that is the extreme case, but most are off about 200 rpm.

I buried the needle once. I don't know how fast I was actually going, but it was noisy.

I meant motor/tranny , but I'm sticking with 4100 RPMs = 100 MPH in a stock festiva. Here is how I arrived at that conclusion.

From video I see that 85 MPH = 3500 RPM

                        3500/85 = 41.18 rpm per mph
                        100mph x 41.18rpm = 4118 rpm
