  • Got passed by my own wheel today... EMBARASSING!!

    Ha-Ha..

with all the work I did on the Festy in the last few days, I guess I was just spaced out....

I wanted to go for a test drive real quick, before the snow started coming down hard.

I swear, I THOUGHT I tightened those lug nuts!! nope... and I only had two installed.... ughh....

Pulled into the street and started around the block.. I heard a "thump, thump" and was wondering what it was... started to get a little louder, so I headed home real quick.. pulled onto my street and

THUD.... I didn't know what happened, but the car settled quickly to the left rear and I looked out the window just in time to see my left rear tire pass me up!!!

Jeez... I thought, this ain't gonna end well.. the street was crowded with parked cars..

My festy DID NOT SCRAPE!! the suspension is so tight it just settled, but the right rear drum did NOT hit the ground..

I stopped gently, and watched the racing slick head off down the street, into the cul-de-sac, up my buddies driveway at the end, between his cars, and WHOP into his garbage can... LOL...

I hung my head as my neighbors looked to see what I had gotten into this time... went to my garage, got some spare lug-bolts and a jack and lug wrench....

No harm done, to anything but my ego...

HOW EMBARRASING!!! (could've been a LOT worse!!)

thank god it was 2 a.m. and not traffic tyme.

Lucky nothing was too torn up. Been there, done that myself, tho in my case, the rear spindle sheered off and the wheel, brake et all passed me.

Man what a funny great ending to a potentially terrible story. "Thump in the trash can!"
I'm waiting to find out how you like your new suspension setup. I'm going to do something. I'm just not sure what yet. Didn't you say you didn't like the fms springs?

The FMS spings are.........ok....... for the street.. not for competition.

I am sure I won't recommend this set up for the street, but with a softer spring rate, and these struts/shocks, I am sure it would be fine.

Oh, it's worse than that... the blue car isn't registered OR insured this year...... I switched that over to the red car when I decided to use the blue one for race only....
