  • anyone ever used electrolysis on an engine block?

a buddy of mine is into electrolysis and since my block on my 51 needs cleaned he mentioned strip it down all the way and lets try it.

im game, just wondering if anyone else has done this and how well it worked.

another reason is that it might help around my head bolts to loosen them up enough to get them out.

    whats your thoughts on it?

It can't hurt, and I've tried it on smaller parts, and it works well....

ya ive helped him with some stuff, seen it go in looking like crap, and came out looking almost brand new. thats why i figured what the heck lol.

just wondering how bad it would be on blocks, of course wed spray it with something like wd-40 right after to dry up the water on it and protect it.

nah, the water won't hurt it any. Just do like you said and treat it with WD-40 right after.

Ok, it IS the same thing as what they use for jewelry then, I just couldn't figure out how that would apply to an engine. I am going to have to try this on a few things soon!
