Hello all,
We've had a 1993 ford festiva at work for years now I've had my eyes on. Last week inspection ran out on it and someone ganked the battery. It was one of our trusty delivery vehicles but the owner of the company no longer wants to put money into it so.....I made him an offer and he accepted! Its a 1993 Festiva L, 132k on the clock. No AC, no PS, no radio.. bare bones! This thing has been through hell and back. I know it hasn't been treated the best, but for the amount I got it for I couldn't pass up the offer. It runs and drives, but has a few issues, which are...
It was a 5 speed car but that tranny blew and they stuck in a 4 speed. It won't go into 4th, physically you can not put it into 4th. Doesn't grind just will not go in. I'm thinking shift fork bent or something. So for now, its a 3 speed until I can dig up a 5spd. Any idea's on the no 4th guys?
Right front axle sounds like its clicking.
The last time it had a tune up, dinosaurs were around.
Small dent on passenger side behind door
Speedo jumps around sometimes
Motor mounts are made out Jello
Has a valve cover gasket leak.
The radiator I think came out of a prelude, zip tied to the rad support... not joking... hey its an upgrade... sort of...
Could use two new tires soon.
Missing a passenger side seat ... was taken out many moons ago to fit parts in it.
Possible clutch adjustment or new clutch. The thing bucks pretty bad in 1st gear unless you feather the clutch. It seems like drivetrain buck not tune up buck. Once you get going its fine. I'm thinking it could be a combo of the engine mount and clutch. Any ideas guys? Just bucking at low speed in 1st.
Brake pedal is feeling a bit soft, I'm assuming
Little moisture in driver side headlight.
Only blows heat from the defrost setting, the other settings blow cool air in. Any ideas on this one? Stumped...
Yea I know... its a hell of a list but it runs and drives... And ... I got a deal... like... blue light special, two whoppers for 2 bucks, free lap dance ... sorta deal. I couldn't pass it up.
I manage an auto parts store so, parts should be available Glad to have found this site, tons of good people and info here it looks like. Just picked it up this morning. Took it right over to the power wash and spent 3 hours cleaning, even quick detailed the engine bay. Hope to talk to everyone soon!
