  • Festiva Smell

This may sound weird, but is it just me, or do all Festivas have a certain interior smell in common? Kind of a chemicalesque, deteriorating plastic smell. I don't mind it. It's somehow comforting, one of my favorite smells, actually, right after new tires.

When I gutted my interior, I washed the metal with Mr. Clean, It has a lemon fresh smell. It's usually the seat cloth fabric and carpet that pick up most of the smell. I changed both.

As a quick fix to remove odors without stripping everything out and doing a complete cleaning.

A good way to remove tobacco and other odors from a car is to fill three wide shallow bowls 1/4 full with vinegar.
Arrange a piece of terrycloth in each bowl so that it forms a wick with most of the cloth sticking up above the vinegar.
Place one bowl in the front floor board, one in the back and one in the hatch area. Leave them overnight or longer with windows closed.
You may have to do this a couple of times. The vinegar smell will go away after a couple of days and so will most of the other odors.

Then use your febreeze to cover up what odors remain.

Yes I would also like to know what you did or used to get rid of the smell.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.
