  • Did another STUPID thing...

was working on my wifes 01 civic and the valve cover gasket was leaking a little bit... so i went to tighted the valve cover bolts and broke one completely off.... @#$^&! so its broke off inside the head... to drive it, i went ahead and temporarily put the high temp RTV and stuck it back in to seal it and so it won't leak out the top...

any suggestiongs how to get the broken bolt out? From what I can tell it is flush with the head.....I called Honda and already pre-paid and got another $5.78.. not too bad.

Might try to walk it out with a pick maybe you just popped the head of it and not bottomed the bolt out.

        Another good idea!

The screw probalbly bottomed out....less than a 1/4 turn CCW and it should come right out. If your willing to take the valve cover off...you can try to grind a screw driver slot into the expose part of the bolt...be sure to cover the exposed engine parts.

Get a left hand drill bit or one that drills when the drill is in reverse. Use a small center punch on the bolt. When the drill bit grabs itll take it right out. You can get them here.
