Off season tire storage

Hello all,

What is the best way to store tires on the rim? Should I let some of the air out... how much? Stacked on top of one another or side by side?

I just stack them up on top of each other. Never had a problem.

keep them aired up. if not you might crinkle the sidewalls

^^Normal air pressure will insure that they hold their shape.
When the rims and tires are off the car...they are not under load...doesn't matter sidewall or treads.

I believe a cool, dark place is best to prevent heat and light damage to the tires that would be unecessary. I've seen RV tire covers for when they're parked.

I think I'll store my Nokians in my basement, where it's a lot cooler than my garage. I'll probably cover them with a blanket, if at all. Not a lot of light down there. Methinks about 28 pounds of pressure will be good to help them keep their shape.

I'll be mounting my Hercules 165/70-13s again soon after I clean up my spare set of Aspire alloys.
