  • I about pulled a Monsoon, today!!!!

My gf and I went road trippin' today in Levistiva...I love not being chained down by gas prices!! Pulled into a little town and there was a black Festiva sitting on a tow dolly, and "LX"! I knocked on the door and the lady said her boyfriend was going to take it to the scrap yard. I drooled!!!! He'd be home by 4:30. So we had time to kill and I did the once over.... the front seats with headrests, split back seat, power mirrors, intermittent wipers,a/c, 5 speed, console, wipered and defogged hatch. The whole time I'm thinking, please have a title, please have a title!! Oh yea, one more thing, 56,000 miles. 4:30 rolls around, I meet the boyfriend and he tells me his gf didn't know what she was talking about, it was his mothers and absolutely not for sale. Talk about a serious buzz kill. I left my number, I will be checking back with cash in hand. Like I said, I "about" pulled a Monsoon!! Add expletives here!!

I could just see you after talking to the GF. Thinking everything any one of us would have been thinking. All excited and everything.
And I could just see you after talking to the guy. Thinking everything any one of us would have been and feeling like you just kicked in the jewels.
Did you get the obligitory, "Its okay baby maybe he'll sell it later." from your GF? I find that never helps myself.

Well so far, closest anyones got to mine was the $50.00 dollar find. But it wasnt sitting in a scrapyard as far as I know.

My emotions went from being so excited I told my gf that I thought that I was going to have to find a secluded area off the side of the road for us, to her saying do we need to find a secluded area off the side of the road just to make me feel better about things!!!

What a flippin' drag!!! I was so into thinking about posting the pics and doing a rebuild section, the whole gammit! You know, the car that makes some of you guys so famous on here. I was just this close....this flippin' close!!

One word I have learned from my buddies Packrat427 and Elcamino1, is "LX"....must be short for deLuXe! That is the most educational thing I learned at the the DJ Memorial Meet in Missouri..."LX"!!

To be honest, I was thinking the full tear down, put on a rotisserie(sp?), everything bead blasted, rhino-lined, painted, powdercoated and anodized. A complete rebuild to stock that my mentor Freshtiva would have been proud of!! A total Refreshedtiva!!

I know it isn't exactly like the story you have Monsoon, but it was close enough I could have named it Monstiva or Monsoon II or something.

              Now back to reality...it's raining...and it's not tears, yet......LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate when you get teased like that. You get all worked up over it and then WHAM....Slam to the FACE!!!! Maybe he'll consider selling for the right price. It sounded like a pretty loaded up car.

The problem with that is there can't be too many people in Iowa that already own 4 Festivas. There's bound to be someone who'd say. "I bet its that crazy so and so in Altoona that has 4 of em already!"
