if you keep blowing trannies, upgrade it to an F-series

2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

G series would probably be overkill for a B6, and i suggested F series since axles are a ton easier to come by

the F series tranny is almost identical to the G series, its stronger than the stock tranny, the axles are stronger, and with the F series you don't need to find an intermediate shaft since the axles work the same as the stock ones

i have an F series in my BP car and so far it's holding up pretty good

you'll need to make mounts for it and modify the shifter linkage for it to work

Someone would buy those mounts you just put in.

As for solid mounts? My brother ran solid mounts in his all-motor Neon (13 second N/A btw) a few years back... That thing vibrated every inch of that car while it was running! But it was a very sick vibrate...

What actual broke? Maybe you have a geometry problem that can be easily solved

The case split again. If there is a geometry problem, it's Mazda's... as everything is new, nothing has been hit or bent, it looks to be internal stress, pushing against the left side of the case till it gives up... just a weak design I am guessing... guess they never built it for double the horsepower getting to the ground through 3 times the contact patch and several times sticker tires... ya think??

because i have owned a mx-3 with a F trans in it, I have to say good job on using anything weaker! The stock 1.6 dohc is a good match for the F. Sounds like it worked for you longer than I would have thought it could. And if you have blown 4 of them, yea time for upgrade. It does suck that you have new mounts tho.

Quaddawg, as was suggested, consider the F series swap. It's possible the gear ratios aren't to your liking, but maybe you could mod them? I don't know.

I'm sure someone would buy your Festiva mounts, or you could save them for a future project.

Also, how would an ATX do for autocross? The ATX should be able to handle that B6. Also, the Aspire ATX has a lower final drive for better pickup. I was planning on swapping to one until I decided to go MTX due to fuel costs.

The closest I've ever been to autocross was when Bob Bondurant came to OSU campus back around '94 with a Ford road show. They set up a small course in the ROTC parking lot and Bondurant took three at a time in a SHO through the course, giving some pointers. I got to drive an Escort GT through the course. The other cars were a Probe and a Mustang, IIRC. All were automatics. I interviewed him afterwards for an article.
