  • Sad day for the Dawg.. Death of my Festy

Ran different, VERY sticky tires, on my alloys... too narrow, too grippy, balls to the wall run..

Back end came out, tried to catch it... too late.. .tires bit, Festiva went over hard....

Thank god for 5 point harnesses, and quick safety crews.... I wasn't injured..

    I was covered in gasoline...

    and the Festy?

    Dead....

Haven't decided what I am going to do yet....

I am a sad sad boy...

Sorry to hear it Dawg. No hope for repair at all? Looks like all non structual damage to me?

I know I can't spell for sheet, but without the cow, I'm lost.

Not a straight piece of sheet metal on it.

      Top is crushed down...

      nope... it's dead.

I am done racing Festys... it went over way too easy.. I would never be able to go balls to the wall again... so.. nope... no more Festy racing for me...

My deepest condolences, Dawg! Your Festiva is one of the famous ones I always tell people about. Glad you're alright man, and whatever you decide to do with it, don't let the experience sour you on Festivas. You still have that '89 automatic right? That one looked like it had lots of miles left in it, at least for running around town. And you can always turn the blue one back into a road car. It just has character now.

Jeez... that really stinks!!! Glad you got your 5 point harnesses installed!

It would make a great trailer racer now, you were talking about taking the top off and adding a roll cage anyway, it doesn't look like the suspension geometry is messed up much so two fenders and a hood, ditch the lights and bumpers and anything else you would need for the street only, and make it a full out race car.

unless your really just done racing festy's... but i loved your car man! It was a true inspiration to the rest of us.

i'm sure if you need some parts folks here will be more than willing to donate to help.

NO.... I won't GIVE UP ON FESTIVAS!!!

My son and I have been sitting in the garage looking at the little guy..

I think I am seriously going to cut it up.. top off, cage in... then start hacking weight.

I think my goal is 1250 lbs. I think it's doable. Small fuel cell though.. I will NEVER hang upside down with gasoline pouring out of the tank onto my face again... my whole life flashed before my eyes.. I thought.. is this how I go? Is this thing gonna burn me up?

It was friggen scary. Someone said "fire" that is all I heard, but really someone said "watch for signs of FIRE" I was soaked in gas... and scared...

It drove itself onto the trailer, and when I got it home, it pulled off the trailer and up the driveway and into the garage... it won't die... it CAN'T DIE!!!!
