  • Turbo, wtB, AND OTHER QUESTIONS

Thats what I need, a BPT manifold to put on my BP, that turbo I mentioned before, I think only fits on the BPT manifold, maybe if I could get a picture of it up, someone could tell me

    Logan

from these pictures you can see the turbo, it doesnt have a very big lip for a down pipe, I think i need a special ring clamp to hold one on, also notice the header braket for the turbo, and the turbo, the turbos is bigger. Can I get a special braket to bolt the two together???

    Logan

Im going to post this in General discussion to, unless a admin can relocate it for me.

      mazda

The guy i bought it off from was going to use it for his 1.8 swap, but the pictures are not exactly the samesize, its hard to tell, but just the flange is like a 1/2 inch bigger than the exhaust flange.

Might be to big, but I can't compare it to another turbo, here is a picture of it with the two together.

sorry for the size, still getting used to hosting pics

what are the ARs on the compressor and turbine housings? looks like a 60/64? does it have a stick-on tag with a part# on the compressor housing? If so, is it a Ford tag, with a # like E3DZ-xxxxx-xx. Looks very similar to the 60 trim Garret T3 I picked up for my BPT project. Mines from an 85 Tbird Turbo Coupe. My header flange lines up however. Which leads me to believe it might be for a turbo Escort/Lynx? I don't know who else used Garret/AiResearch turbos...

How do the toes in the picture attach to the turbo?

              so will it work,

numbers on intaKE HOUSING vw m11, also 8474 224, in the middle between the oil return and take line there is a -11 430683, on the exhaust flange there is Garrett, and AR1-15 M1, also 2/87,

Thats all the number and lettering I could find on it, Im not totally sure about its dimensions though. there is also a 124 on the intake tube where the air filter hooks up.

Does anyone think its going to work? If so what about a down pipe, do I need a special clamp ring to clamp it on?

I think it did have a stick on tag, but its not there now, the guy I bought it from said it was a T04E turbo, does that help

If its a T04E that's a 500hp turbo, depending on the trim. I would not advise installation of that on a car you want to see boost below 4000rpm.

                Thanks

It's a very nice Garrett AiResearch turbo... probably a T3... The turbine side is setup to be a pulse converter, but your manifold is not exactly in the same arrangement... Whoever was going to use that on a 1.8 setup either had a Honda with VTEC (high revs=good CFM) or needed some classes in turbo sizing. For a BP, you want a GT28RS (disco potato) turbo. Your manifold looks like it's flanged for a T2 housing. You could probably get away with a GT2871R even...

suppose to be a t3/t4 on the flange for manifold

well I dont know, i dont want to make a monster with more than 400 horses, but maybe i will hang on to this turbo for future, unless someone is interested in it for a price.

                    Anyone interested in a trade?

evo arnt you working on a project right nowthat could use this turbo? Got a smaller one anyone?

Mine currently has a T25 exhaust housing its a T-28 single BB. I will be upgrading soon but currently like 4 Pol want my turbo when its off.

You could use a T-25, most RWD SR20 came with them and alot of them upgrade often.

                      Thanks

Most of them are currently upgrading to a GT28RS. The first GT28RS was developed specifically for a BP Miata. A twin BB center section and more modern wheels then that T25 you've got. The GT2871R is nearly always the second choice by people with the GT28RS, so there are going to be some good deals on relatively new GT28RS on Ebay.
