Well I’ve had an adventurous Festiva day and its only 10:00 am. Took my eight 13 inch rims up to a sandblasting place to get them cleaned up, heavy rain the whole way. I go into the sandblasting office the guy says to back into the warehouse to unload because of the rain. I back in (I’m in festdiva) and two men that were in the office came out and said “how much for your car”. I said I hear that a lot any more. They laughed. Then one of them said sarcastically, “who’d want a Ford Festiva anyway”. We all laughed. Because of the rain the wheels couldn’t be blasted today. I guess the blaster doesn’t work in high humidity. As I left I was thinking about three festivas people have been telling me about for months. Id heard it from a couple of different people but never could get an exact location. From the sandblasting place it is possible (in an around about way) to go by the general location of the rumored festivas. I head out of St Joe along the Missouri river bluffs trying to find the festivas. The old TV show “In Search Of “came to mind. Figured I was on a wild goose chase. Of course it’s a lovely day for a drive in between the torrential downpours which were pretty much constant. It’s flat out pouring. I make it all the way through the reported area of the supposed festiva sightings. I pull into a gas station and call one of the people who had filled my head with this nonsense of finding festivas out here in the first place. I get better directions and head back. Back into the deluge and now there are inches of standing water on the road. Festdiva is purring, nice and comfortable inside. Diva reminds me of why I’m out here “In Search Of “. I back track 15 miles and am about to give up when behold, down in the river bottoms I see a little house with about three dozen junk vehicles around it and an old 1960s tow truck out front. In the back sure enough were the festivas. From about 50 yards I vaguely see through the wall of water a red festiva with alloy wheels and a rear window wiper and a blue GL, and possibly a third one further back. They exist and I’ve found them. I see a light on in the house and am about to get out when I notice the beware of dog sign on the fence. The place looked sort of like the place you see in the B horror movies where the crazy tow truck driver takes cars after killing the owners. I roll down the window and there is a real dog, I can hear it barking from behind the fence. I judge the fence to be of ample height unless the dog is part deer so I go to the door and knock, getting soaked. Finally an old man came to the door with no shirt or shoes on and one eye swollen shut and looked at me suspiciously from behind the glass storm door with his one good eye. I said I noticed your ford festivas and wondered if you’d be interested in selling them. They don’t run he said. I said Id still be interested in them. No, he replied. I started to give him my name and number which I had written down earlier in case I couldn’t find anyone around and ask him to call me if he reconsidered but by then I was talking to the door. Ran back to the car thinking I might have caught him at a bad time. He might have just been feeding his dog dismembered parts of the dead motorists whose cars he had stolen. I left critiquing my pitch for the cars. The festivas are going to rot there. The weeds were window high around them now and he isn’t going to do any thing with them. He didn’t look to healthy Another thirty minutes of driving through the pouring rain I get back to civilization and vow to go back on a nicer day …..“In Search Of “ : lost festivas.

My gnarly Festiva adventure continued today. I went over and saw my buddy and Festiva man behind the counter Reuben (Kingfish). I met his car Bruce. A nice silver 90 L plus with lots of goodies. Note FFC sticker in back window. Note festdiva at the end of the row in the first picture. Also there was some wise guy with a chevy sprint in the same picture. A festiva want to be. ;^)
Kingfish set me up with a commercial account for my festiva fleet, now I can get discounts at his store. The account is under the Festiva Ranch. Very nice, thanks Reuben.
After that I went up to see my buddy who has a tire store in a town my wife is from. I bought him out of festiva tires at his cost in a cash and carry deal. No taxes paid either. Two of the sets are uniroyal tiger paws. Got them all for $350.00. A little less then $30 a tire.
Nothing like a full day of festy fun !!!sigpic

Man, if i had know you were taking hi-res pics, I would have polished those rings better. No to mention installed the pass side mud flap. An the rain washed off the tire-wet I use to shine the bumpers, and the coat of wax I just did yesterday, but then again thats probably why it rained!Going old school...

Show up with a six pack, pack of smokes, a couple of lottery tickets and a copy of Deliverance...to warm him up...tell him he can have two of the four items for a closer look at the Festivas. If he picks the copy of Deliverance, let the weeds grow.Joe Lutz

Dang, I wished Id picked up a cig butt, and then Id know his brand. I can never think of this stuff. Esp in a down pour. I thought of the movie Deliverance more than once today. I think I should be able to impose an “eminent domain” thing on him. Sorry bud, but it’s for the good of society, you will have to give up those festys, by the power bestowed to me by Ford Festiva.Com.sigpic
