The KL8 is the probe, 1.8L and about 130HP. The KLZE is a 2.5L JDM engine that swaps into the probe.
I still believe it will fit into a festiva using the probe trans, custom axle and a lot of fabrication.
Slight correction, the K8 is 1.8L (130hp) and is in the MX-3. The Probe and MX-6 have the KLDE which is 2.5L (160hp). The KLZE is JDM and is also 2.5L but roughly 200HP. I now have a most of the parts needed to see if it will fit into a festiva, I just don't have a garage or the space to do it. I got rid of the K8 from my mx-3 when I put a KLDE in it (didn't have anywhere to store it), otherwise I would have everything to see if it fits.

Thanks, I knew the KLZE was a common swap for the Probes. Before getting my Festiva, I had an 89 GL... That thing was fun (aside from all the corny jokes)...

Those things sound very formula like with a nice exhaust on them. Probably sounds even nastier with ITBs on it.
I'm guessing they used a Suzuki gran vitara tranny since that is about the only one that would bolt up directly to that engine for RWD useage.
