  • what color?

I'll be painting my new Festy soon, and I'm trying to decide what to do with the instrument surround and center stack trim. I'm changing the interior to black. Should I leave those dash trim pieces natural charcoal, paint them satin black, gloss black, silver, or body color?

Well ....there was someone on here that painted them a silver color I believe and it looked really good....was not that long ago. But body color would really stand out.. I am torn between the 2

I thought of that, that's why I'm leaning toward silver. But the green is just so dang good looking!

My wife sez...... the color wheel does not lie...... satin black, although silver is interesting... I would be very careful. It could turn real ugly quickly. From what you are talking about, use actual metal trim instead..... that could be interesting. What about carbon fiber, or diamond plate chromed?

I don't care for carbon fiber or diamond plate.

I've actually had good luck with cleared silver on other projects, comes out looking like lightly brushed aluminum. I also have chrome door handles and a satin aluminum shift knob (2003 Mustang Mach1).

I will look and see if I can find the info tomorrow on a product that you might want to look into. Allsup or something like that. They have started to use it heavy in airbrush and sorts.

I think the silver painted dash people remember may be mine:

I used regular automotive spray paint, but prepped it correctly so it would stick and not peel (no peeling after 3 years).
If you look close, the gauge pod surround is only painted on the outside, not in towards the actual gauge panel, so it looks to be framed that way.. I've had a few nice compliments from people because it sorta looks stock. Also painted the tach to match.

I say, go with silver Jim!!
