  • I hit 45.2 MPG on festiva auto baby!

I am surprised that my 1992 GL auto did reached 452 miles at 45.2 MPG!

I didn't add any mods on it and I fill up cheap gas type one.

Only one different is that ECU was from 1990 that's all I did swap it.

Also it load the power steering all time but not use with A/C

I will post pic here when I get home...

Anyone have sucess get 45 MPG on 3 sp auto festiva?

That's great for an auto! Were you going 45 mph for a whole tank or what?

I keep 55 MPH max for whole gas tank and try keep under 3,000RPM. also lot of hills and sometime stop in traffic. So I think it probably get better than 45 if it was on flat road and zero stops.

I always want try use 1990 ECU with 5 speed manual to see how much top MPG i can get...

The ECU 1992 or ECU 1989 it didn't give me good MPG and I don't know why make it different?

Here the few day ago picture from my old phone when the fuel needle reach 1/2 of gas tank on 226 miles on it.

The second picture have strange error file couldn't open it so I am working on it if i can recover it. but you get the idea 226x2= 452 miles total div by /10 gallon tank = 45.2 MPG

Not to rain on your parade, but as a rule of thumb, gas gauges are not accurate enough to calculate mileage. A better bet is to divide the total miles driven on a single tank by the amount of gas (in gallons) it takes to fill it back up.

^^agreed...if that is what you are basing your milage on instead of the actual gallons to miles traveled then I am sorry to say it is most likely wrong.
While on the Ohiostiva trip while I was on my way to the park with the rest of the pack I made mention to my son, he was riding with me, that I was at 300 miles at 1/2 tank. To that point it was the best I had gotten but I had been driving nice since I had filled up. I only ended up by the time I filled up with an mpg of 45. Nate was actually there when I filled up before heading home from the Ohiostiva meet and he thought that I was getting bad milage for my car being stock....lol, I agreed but was still happy since it was the best I had done since owning the car.

My automatic needs some help I am averageing about 29 mpg. Not sure where to start though. It has new gaskets and plugs, I guess I could get some new filters, and smaller tires (currently running 15's).

I don't think my fuel gauge is too wrong, it was not first time happend me to get 45's MPG.

Last week I got 468 miles emptying the gas by using good gasoline from Chevron

So second fill up I try use different gasoline cheap one from ARCO it still going to get 450's miles to emptying the gas in tank.

I believe 1990 (maybe protoype festiva or mod chip?) ECU have done somethng effects with MPG cause to run lean gas always.

What I notice with 0 to 55MPH it always slow and no matter how you stomp the gas it get hard catching up with freeway's speed.

Unlike my 1989 L-Plus auto very quick catch up on freeway.

My '93GL auto with B6 gets an average of 26 to 27 mpg in daily driving. On the trip to OS VII and back I averaged 37.3 mpg. I drove about 63-67 mph and have largish 175/70-13 severe weather all seasons.

I hit about 45 mpg going 65mph but I have a cone intake and cut the exhaust tip off and put a '04 toyota matrix tip on it. Plus I use octane booster every 1000 or so miles(plus it's a $1 for it).
