has anyone here changed a timing belt on a 91 dodge spirit 4cly?

if so is it difficult and is it a non interfearnce moter because my brothers timming belt may have snapped.

I did a head on one a couple years back. I think I still have the repair manual if you want it.
I seem to remember that it was pretty straight forward except I had a heck of a time with the crank pulley.

one piece of advice; if the timing belt is over or under tensioned it will squeal/chirp. Timing belt tensioner is supposed to be set with a weighted tool prior to being locked down.

fb71 what do you mean about weighted.

its a lever with a weight at one end. The other end fits into the timing belt tensioner. Loosen the tensioner, change the belt, hang the tool from the tensioner, tighten the tensioner. The tool can be replaced by a dial-type or beam-type in/lb torque wrench. I don't know the torque, but it might be in the manual.

If its a 4 cyl then its a non interference engine, I do not know about the V6 though.

Non-interference. They're pretty straight forward engines.

oooh, turbo Spirit....

Yeah, its just a non-intercooled turbo-I automatic but its pretty quick to about 80 and doesnt take much to get to 100. Plus it looks like a plain jane base model and has virtually no options for a real sleeper effect. Looks like a total granny car.
