I already made a couple of other posts so sorry I am doing this backwards. My wife has been obsessed with festivas since she bought one new in 93 as her first car. A few years ago it had become badly rusted and the electrical system was cooked so, stupidly, we got rid of it. A week ago I found a 91 GL in very dirty and smelly but otherwise good shape for $600.00 and am now fast becoming a festiva junkie as well. Since it needs only a new oil pan gasket and only has two dime sized rust spots, its going to the body shop next week for a fresh paint job after I finish pulling out the carpets, seats, and selected interior panels for cleaning. After that I plan on slowly upgrading it. I am finding tons of fantastic information and ideas here and am very appreciative.

As for myself, I'm a backyard mechanic with no professional experience but I can figure most stuff out with a little time and reading. It helps that I work in a power plant as an operator / mechanic / electrician / I&C tech.

Thanks again to all and see ya' round the threads.

Thanks, I'll do that right away. My wife is away visiting her sister so the paint job is a surprise. She'll be doing backflips when she sees it. After a thorough cleaning and paint job it'll be her daily driver unless I'm in the process of repairing or upgrading it. I'm still in shock over having scored this car for $600.00. Somebody pinch me I must be dreaming!!!!!!!!:blob7:

WElcome! You'd be surprised at the number of us who have scored our Festivas. My 88 LX was a save from the scrapyard which I paid for with a junk Escort I had. My 93GL with 86K on it,I paid $950 for. LIke someone here said one time. Its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
