The problem in West Virginia is that you have major restrictions as to under what circumstances you can operate the car on the road. Up side is that you can do all sorts of cool things like run a plate of the year of the car (IE 1989 WV plate for example) the plate is good for 10 years with no renewal needed, and is exempt from annual inspections!

I have the original plate on my Galaxie...or course, it hasn't been on the road in 8 years, but it DOES have the 1966 plate on it! I heard I can actually use it somehow, but I've not checked into it...and I assume it would come with all sorts of restrictions. Ahh, a classic Festiva..has a nice ring to it.

In Ohio the car as to be 25 years old for historical plates too. But you can also run model year in place of them. They are something like $20-$25 good for the life of the vehicle, but you are supposed to be going to of from an event.

              Drive Clean

In Ontario, any vehicle that hasn't rusted out in 20 years from all the winter salt baths, is considered a classic and is exempt from the mandatory Drive Clean emmission checks required for vehicle licensing by the provincial government. Did I mention that every owner has to pay for the inspections as well as hundreds of dollars in extra repair charges if the vehicle fails the test? Anyway, there are no special plates. Seargent Wooley is watching you!
