As long as you can get a compressor to hang off the BP motor with enough room to plumb a couple of lines, you should be able to make it work.

does anybody know how to use an Aspire compressor with the rest of the Festiva A/C? that's the only thing keeping me from completing my A/C in my Festiva..... all the pulleys in my car are v-belt and the Festiva is serpentine.... pulley on the Aspire compressor isn't removable.... need that pulley and not the one on the Festiva compressor.....

Just get some 88 or 89 V-belt Festiva pulleys and swap them. I have a 93GL with V-belt pulleys. No problemo.

that picture shows serpentine belts not v-belts.... serpentine belts have the bumps and v-belts have grooves

no festiva came with v-belts and no Aspire came with
          serpentine belts

I hate to correct you old yellow. But all Festivas came with v belts.

But its simple. Use a compressior that matches which ever belt you are using.

I thought a serpintine belt was almost flat, and one belt drove all pulleys.
I also thought that a v-belt was narrow (extra narrow in the case of a Festiva) so that it sits in the v-groove of the pulley, yet not protrude above it. The bumps you see in the picture are only to allow it to curve around a smaller pulley. Usually a serpentine belt has a spring tensioner that applies pressure on the top surface of the belt. The bottom surface of a serpentine belt usually has small ridges to prevent it from lateral wandering.

ok terms don't matter now but I need to get an Aspire compressor to work in a festiva....... how will I do it? does the ends of the lines on the festiva work for the Aspire compressor?

I did a little looking. It looks like the Aspire compressor is different than a Festiva. Looks like you will have to use a Aspire compressor mounting bracket. Then have Aspire compressor fittings put on the Festiva hoses. Good luck.

I plan to upgrade 3, possibly 4, manual 88/89 LXs to EFI. All of the LXs currently have AC. I understand that it will be necessary to transplate the EFI donor cars' fuel tanks and wiring harnesses.

Not all of the donor EFI cars have AC -- will this cause problems, i.e. will I have to clone EFI AC writing "sub harness" to make this work?

No, you shouldn't have to. It is a single main connector to the pushbutton switch on the heater control panel (where it gets power from the main harness to energize the clutch on the cpmpressor and turn the cooling fan on continuously). Everything else is standalone.
